Too bad they didn't offer a work-around, like drop it into sport mode and AFM doesn't engage, ie, only when in D...

We have had our 2012 A6 for 350miles now and it doesn't seem to bother the wife at all. She is happy it starts, stops, and looks good.
It bugs the crap out of me! If we still have this car in a year it is getting a tune. I see NO reason once the customer pays for the car GM will not allow you to have this nuisance removed and keep the warranty intact. This feature is strictly a technology to stretch fuel. If I as the owner/customer wish to use more gas that's my business, not the governments. If all the Camaro owners and clubs started to petition GM to allow this to be tuned out at the dealer they might listen. |

You know there are other ways to avoid things like cafe standards. Vote the idiots out who voted for it and have it repealed

things like this make me mad. you just don't put this into performance engines IMO. same thing with the M6 having that lock out of gears. i bought a 6.2L v8 engine. do you really think i care about 1 or 2 better MPG ? at the risk of being lock out of 2 and 3 gear sometimes ? GM doesn't even sell that many v8s anymore most are 6s. would you guys really not buy a v8 camaro if it cost like a grand more for the gas tax?

now would you rather have a auto with a LS3 more HP plus better to mod? and no AFM. but a gas tax? i bet your answer would be yes.

They did it of course to meet CAFE standards figuring that those who didn't like it would just modifiy anyway. It's really rather smooth. I hate the VVT more than anything. It could be worse, GM made it really easy for the aftermarket to hack the ECM's unlike the Dodge and Ford group. The 2012 Dodge's now have a rolling lock code making it extremely difficult to make changes to what you do or don't like about the car.
