Borlas regular systems fit the verts and Magnaflow already has a vert version of their systems (that's what I have) however I had to have mine fabricated a bit because the GFX version wasn't released in July when I got mine. Your looking at about $1000.

As for power gains- the biggest difference is the X pipe... you can get an axle back and install an x pipe for the same results as a cat back. Standard 3" systems won't clear the vert braces, however companies are beginning to make new bracing to clear the larger exhausts.

As for the other "disagreement"... you can make anything fit, with the appropriate tools, time and expertise, however, the average guy like me, w limited resources will NOT make an AT stsyem fit. Hushpower may be a different story-but its also a different exhaust.... so the B.S. flags waving at full mast!

Apparently not in our lifetime. I called in March when we bought out vert. Guy said it would be 60 days. Called 2 months later, guy said it would be 60 days. Called back 2 months later, guy said it would be 90 days?!?!? Called Jegs that day and ordered a Borla Catback S-type. Got it 2 days later. Car sounds AWESOME now. Just wish I would have went with Borla on day one...

I spoke with Flowmaster RD Rep Gary Silva, since Jan while I was awaiting my car. I kept Getting the same 60 day time-frame month after month. I offered to bring my car as a demo to them (that's a long a$$ dive for an exhaust) and no luck. They did request pix from my failed AT install attempt, and worked with the retailer on getting me a full refund, even shipping. Then finally in June I got a last E-mail saying an Axle-Back was coming, but no cat-back, and that it was going under a different branding other than American Thunder or Hushpower. So a few months later and the Outlaw is born...

Nothing at all sounds like an AT on our cars, really disappointed it didn't work out, but it is what it is. Happy with my Magnaflow, but still wishing it was the A.T.

Flowmaster Exhaust

I spoke with a Flowmaster tech guy last night. They now have a FORCE II axel back system for the Convertible (PN 817506).He said it was way not as aggressive(noisy) as the outlaw system. I looked at it on the jegs site, and it looks really easy to install.Gonna give it a try.

I had a Flowmaster axle-back put on the day after I took delivery on my new 2012 vert last week. I don't have the part number, but I'll try to get it because I'd like to know myself. The dealer actually talked me out of getting the GM Performance exhaust and said I could have either Flow or Magna, so I chose Flow. It sounds great. Dealer farmed it out to a nearby muffler shop and it took them about 3 hours.

I was searching out exhaust systems last night and ran across one from MRT? I hadn't posted about it yet and I haven't contacted them yet to see if they have a system for the convertible...yet. The video clips sound pretty good!

What bola system did you get? I was looking at a few but afraid they might be TOO loud while the top is down.

Been up n down the river a million times on exhausts- if your looking for a GREAT tone (deep, low rumble, but not overwhelming) go with the S Type... ATAK is loud, and Touring is all but non-existent. S has a great tone, and if down the road, you decide to go for performance and add headers, it still sounds GREAT while not being overly obnoxious.

Awesome thanks a lot. I really like the sound of the S Type so I'm am diffidently investing in it. I've been trying to collect as much information on mods that I would like. So far I have the exhaust down. x] I've also been looking at adding the G5CR S2 CAI. From what i've heard it is pretty good.

I actually got the touring...it sounds great...not very loud at all. I like it because I am a 41 year old women and not a youngin, lol. people can tell now that I am a V8. I do wish it had just a bit more of a rumble...but the S just sounded too loud in the cabin, and I like to talk on the phone. ATAK was TOOOOO Loud.

I just installed the Flowmaster part #817506 on my 2012 2SS conv Friday. Ordered it from Jegs. Two day free shipping.
The most difficult part was positioning the sawsall for easy cutting. I also removed the angle braces that give the car additional rigidity. Don't forget to reinstall. They may need a little persuasion with a hammer. Once I got the pipes cut, the rest was easy. After grinding off the sharp edges on the factory pipes, the flowmasters slipped right on.
Great sound.
Tools I used: ramps, cordless impact wrench, sawsall, air grinder, 15mm socket, WD40 for the hangers.

I'm 66 years old and it took me two and a half hours and three beers.
