I've had skip shift eliminator installed on my last 3 cars, worth every penny. Especially when you're taking off slowly in traffic from a light and it prevents you from looking like a fool after getting kicked into 4th gear. Only takes 5-10 minutes to install!

It is easily the first must do mod. I did learn to live through it by just holding in the clutch until the light went off. But I much prefer to shift to whatever gear I want whenever I want.

And yes, APEX FTW!

A definite must-do...keeps the neighbors from complaining when you are leaving for a cruise real early in the morning on weekends. Can go through the low gears in low revs and keep the noise level down...

Apex all the way...great product, price and service.

my dad and i both agree that GM is dumb for having a system that locks you out of gears like this. and they also put that ridiculous gear ratio. i know they are trying to avoid the gas tax, but honestly i am sure most people here pay it for better gears only.

It is the MUST HAVE first mod. Why avoid it or deal with it messing with you at all the wrong times? Its cheap and takes about 1 minute to install (after you jack up the car).

The main question to ask is: how often do you actually hit the skip shift?

I had an eliminator on my C6 Vette and also helped a buddy install one on his CTS-V. We were both hitting the forced 4th gear all the time in those cars. In the Camaro, I've encountered it twice in ~2500 miles. Once in normal driving and once purposely trying to trigger it. The tuning of the skip shift is so less intrusive now that I'm not going to bother with one.

I bought one a couple of years ago on eBay but never installed it. I just learned to run first gear out a little longer and it wouldn't force me to go into 4th gear. My wife wants to drive the car but the skip shift kicked in and totally freaked her out as we were crossing a very busy expressway and when the car went into 4th she had no speed to get out of the way quickly.

Now that it's installed I gotta tell you that I should have installed it a long time ago. I don't have to even think about my RPM's. I would highly recommend it. I think I paid like $15 on eBay.

I was gonna say APEX runs them pretty cheap, but I guess everyone beat me to it. For the low cost it's worth it. It doesn't show up often but when it does it's always at the most annoying time possible.

Worth it!

Do it yourself with the cheap resistor, or just buy the plug n play and it's a quick 5 min mod. Lift, unplug, insert, ziptie, lower... ta-da!

Not sure why alot of people have the issues with this. It used to hit me once in awhile the first couple months I had the car. Now whether im driving very casual, or driving normally, or getting into it a little bit. I never even see the skip shift anymore.......
