Let us know how your latest trip to your dealer goes. I hope they're able to get you all taken care of.

Love my new 2012, but disappointed to come here with a similar issue. It's not bird droppings, acid rain or monkey dung as I have only had the car 3 weeks and drove it a handful of times and it has never seen anything like that on the paint during it's 600 miles thus far. Mostly, it's been in my garage waiting for nice clear days and not many recently in the Boston area.

My initial state inspection was at a local Mercedes dealership and I showed their body shop the defect and he said it's under the clearcoat and looks like a bad area of primer. Today I brought it by an independent body shop and they said it was probably the primer like the Benz dealer said or badly etched metal in that spot, then they shot the paint and then the paint rippled and the clearcoat was applied over that. Both places were surprised it made it through quality control and neither thinks the type of defect on my car can be caused by rain, droppings, etc. and that it is definitely from the factory.

There's also another spot that looks like a small bubble under the clearcoat on the hood.

It goes back to the dealer next week and hope some type of remediation can be offered.

I'm from the Chicagoland area and there was a news spot on one of our local stations a week or so ago about people having issues with paint quality on their cars. Ford was was being "featured" on this report about the poor quality of paint on cars now. This is not an issue that is solely Ford's, just so happened that the owners that made a stink about it owned Fords.

Here's the link to the story. Pretty enlightening about how things are done nowadays.
