This.

I pull mine till I can't pull it up anymore. I've learned the hard way that if I don't... my car WILL roll.

That's the main brakes, the P-Brakes are small drums in the rear.

These parking brakes suck! I had my car in the driveway, packing my son in the back seat for the first time- and it began to roll!
I yanked the brake up a bit more and it stopped. But it needs to be the last click before it does it's job. My other cars worked fine even half pulled up.

Can the dealership adjust this easily?? It's a pretty big concern especially having a kid...

Maybe I shouldn't put so much force into it but I find myself pulling it up as far as it'll go before I shut the car off then when I'm exiting the vehicle I grab it again for leverage and give it another good yank which gives me another click or two THEN I'm somewhat convinced it's engaged. I have zero confidence in the parking brake so I always leave it in gear as well.

After what happened in the driveway this weekend, I don't think I'll ever have faith in the parking brake either. All the way up and in gear when parked.
No more packing the kid with the car running and only depending on the parking brake.

That could have been catastrophic on many levels.

In any case- it's at work parking brake up, 1st gear.

To make sure I did this right... I started the car, put it in reverse, pulled up the parking brake- released, repeated maybe 6-7 times. Is that all?

If it doesn't self adjust, it can be manually adjusted by taking the rotors off and turning the star wheel. Just like a traditional drum brake. Sometimes the adjuster gets mucked up and doesn't self adjust with just multiple pulls. If that happens, dissassemble, clean, manually adjust.

Yea, I'm not qualified to be messing with brakes. I can take the wheels off but that's as far as I'll go.

I'll test out the parking brake a little further after I get home from getting tinted this evening.

It's not a huge concern just yet as the only time it would matter much is when I leave the car running in the driveway to go fetch something I forgot inside. Obviously can't leave it in gear when it's running.

Otherwise I formed the habit years ago to leave it in gear when parking.

I'll post up with the results.
