Great work..
Are the openings on the heads the same size of the gasket openings?
Also wha did you use to port the intake?

I'm used to doing 20 valve sportbikes so this was pretty easy.

I smoothed it down to almost polished so I could see all of the imperfections then I roughed it back up to eliminate the boundary layer problem.
I rubbed it all down with my hand and the washed it with the hose. I then blew it out with a compressor.

Where did you get the extra manifold from? I'm going to get one and have him do it for me, as I want to still have the original manifold not tampered with. I want to get the ported throttle body as well, but I wanna keep my original also... I had plans of maybe getting a new car next year, but I now have no plans of getting rid of mine and modding has started up again, shes a keeper

Looking forward to the results!
I wish I had the ability to cut it and weld back together. Then I could have done a much more complete and accurate job.

Where'd you get the other manifold from?

Hrrrmmm....I'd be really curious to see if the intake holes going into the engine are actually as big as the gasket holes. BSR-1...have you had your intake off to see this for yourself?

A before/after dyno would have been nice, but then again beggers can't be choosers I guess.

Very interested to see how this goes, and I wonder how much different a fully ported intake would fair against yours which has the openings basically widened and smoothed out.

I'll have to wait til I swap it out to see. I'd love to port the heads too but I don't want to tackle the re installation of the heads.

I used a dremel tool with a flexible shaft.

usa1camaro1969 he bought the manifold from the guy who never installed the ported heads and this was his stock left over. I tried to order a new one from GM but they were on back order.

I'll have to wait to see what the head ports look like.
Fully ported? you mean cut open and then welded back together? I ported all of the areas that could be reached without cutting.

yeah, thats what I meant.

Admittedly, I don't know a ton about porting intakes. I know of course what it does, and the effects it can have on an engine and on power, but I don't know a whole lot about the process.

Would cutting and smoothing out the entire thing be much better than just doing what you did?

This is very cool. I wonder if VMAX is going to do the whole cut and weld thing on their ported intake? BSR, you rock my friend.
