2012ZL1, We have so many users on C5 in the last few days they all seem
to run together. I do notice you do not have a 6 digit at present.
What is the full issue, or concern and we will see if the team can find a good answer.
Did you perchance get a 6 digit yesterday?

Slap her in the head till she believes you! lol

Seraph98, we would first like to congratulate you on ordering your ZL1!
While this is opinion only, and not professional counseling,
my opinion is that there should be no reason to keep this from your wife.
In my case, back in early july, I sat my wife down and told her simply
this was something I was going to do. No matter what it takes to get it done,
no matter how long it takes to do it, no matter the cost (the money will always come)
I was going to do this as a gift for myself and a suprise to my folks one day.
Being a "surprise" for your wife would be the only reason I could think of not
to tell her. And by that, I mean a surprise for her, and not a surprise for you.
Its your wife, your relationship. No one other than God above knows your circumstance
and how to handle it other than YOU. No one can tell you how to make that decision.
But I have learned one thing. It is our decisions that place us where we are today!
So... Make the RIGHT decsion here. I will leave this one open for the team.
If you have no further questions for me, I will proceed to close this case.
Regards,
-Teddy

Hi Teddy,

I am ordering a victory red ZL1 just like you. I am ordering the exposed carbon fiber hood. What is your opinion on ordering the the optional gray stripe (I wish that I could see the carbon stripe combo before ordering) that may match the carbon fiber. I hear that the stripe calls for special care. Should I leave the stipe off or what?

quick order, just won't go through yet.

2012ZL1, let us know tomorrow if you are able to submit or not.
I know there is a thread somehwhere about canada having to wait on the US to get picked up

first. Maybe the team can confirm this or where this post I seen this was from.
Let us know on your update tomorrow for sure.

IROC U, Congrats!
If I were ordering exposed carbon fiber, I would order the stripe that goes with it.
Have you seen the 2012 bumble bee carbon fiber stripe here?:
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=176862

While I think this stripe looks awesome I do not think we have confirmation if it will
be the same type of stripe offered on ZL1 if you choose the exposed carbon fiber.
If it were, I think it would look great!

To be honest and 100% truthfull there are a couple of reasons I decided
not to go with the exposed. Again, this is my opinion only.
Not to scare anyone, but I have done minor research ( and I do mean little )
on exposed carbon fiber. Some vette owners with carbon fiber roof say
after a period of time the exposed fiber will turn yellow in appearance.
Carbon fiber as far as asthetics on vehicles have not been around that long.
So we have nothing really to go back lets say 15 or 20 years to see what carbon
fiber looks on these cars for this long. We simply do not know what it will look
like 20 yrs down the road. That is one reason why I choose the standard black insert.
The black stripes on the VR will "POP" and "Bling" because everything on your car and my

car being VR will look good with only one secondary color black. I want to keep it simple.
Red and black. If I do the carbon fiber, then people will be looking at the "Hood" as

opposed to the "entire vehicle" at one time. IE, I don't want people to just focus
on one area of the car. I think the gray will look good with the red if you decide
to go with gray, but I do not think it will look AS good if you keep everything black and

red. Make sense? Your badges are already red! I am a simple ol school kinda guy.
This is what I want for me, and I hope your decision works out for you whatever you decide.
If you have no other questions for me, I will proceed to close out this case.
Regards,
-Teddy

This is not customer service related, but I just wanted to say that I thought I was a ZL1 nut. MY68RS, I must admit that you are the biggest ZL1 nut out of all of us

Dear Teddy,

The Vette owners you speak of - are these 2009-present ZR1 owners? Those cars were supposed to employ some sort of hyper-expensive, space-age clear coating to prevent discoloration.

Black accents the yellow. Period.
The black wheels will look better IMHO because of this.
BUT, i would add the stripe for more bling to go with all the other
exterior black trim. Same thing I am doing with my Victory Red.
The black and Red go together. More bling, more contrast.
Yes, your interior will have red stitch and not yellow.
BUT, you can always use a fabric pen to change your stitch to yellow.
This has been documented with the SS models.
If you have no further questions, may I please close this case?

I have no idea... but what I seen, I did not care for the comments that were making about it.. But... carbon fiber does look cool when it is nice and fresh!

Exclamation

Team,
I have this issue.
I just got off the phone with the Assitant General Sales manager that I spoke with Saturday morning when I went down to the dealership.
I called him promptly at 1pm. He remembered who I was but was "confused" when I mentioned the 6 digit. He explained and apologized to me and went on to say " We will give you your order number when the car is built in Jan"
"We will have your 6 digit at the END of November." (what they are waiting to see what the price is?????)
Ok now he just made a strike against me.
He said, they are getting 3 total ZL1's now. Before they mentioned two.
He said they are a large dealership blah blah blah and they are for a fact getting 3 Zl1's. I said, well I simply want my 6 digit. I went on to explain
how 30 people in front of me NOW have theyre digit. He said the fleet manager was in a meeting. He said he would call me back. 5 Minutes later the Assitant GSM called me back again and said he briefly spoke with the fleet manager... The fleet manager said they are waiting for a "process or number" back from GM before they can order the cars allocated???
He could not tell me what that "process" from GM was....
He said he would call me back in a hour and a half. Well I am giving him two hours here...
He said basically they can't order against the three allocated until they hear back from GM that it is OK to do so?
What gives. The have my deposit. I can't go anywhere else atm...
Only way I could go somewhere else is someone (dealership) take me in and let me order one. I am sure it would take several days for me to get my deposit back on this....
Team.... what to do?
