I wouldn't put a deposit down on anything right now......Take your deposit money and invest it for the next year. The dealers don't even know when they're getting the cars.....

Heck I was out browsing the dealers in August to see if they'd spill any info. The guy I talked to (Lake City Chev in Seattle if you'd like to avoid them for being dumb) told me they'd have the new Camaro on their lot in October. I looked at him funny and asked him to confirm they'd have a 2009 model on their lot in October 2007 and he told me yes.
Seeing how its November now I should go back and buy one... |

You should have gotten that in writing and then gone back in October.

Yeah...call him up or run over there and ask the guy if he remembers you. Tell him you'd like to order your Camaro now...if ok w/ him of course. You know the only reason he said that was to keep your business... I'd tell him if he can't even figure out the simple stuff, you're not working with him. I'd much rather (if I was a salesman) tell the customer they can come in the end of 08 to order their 2010...give me a # and I'll call ya~

Salesmen generally don't know all that much about the cars they sell. They are not, generally speaking, car guys. When my mom was looking at cars we went to a Mazda dealership, and I ended up knowing more than the salesman. After a while he just said "wow, you know a lot about these cars. More than me." Same was true when I worked at a Toyota dealership in the inventory office. My boss had me put together a trivia contest as an incentive for the salesmen to learn more about the product they were selling. I just looked through the booklets the manufacturer provides to hand out to customers and I put together some quizzes. Some were easy, some were hard. Some of the salesmen did quite well, but a lot were really disappointing. Salesmen care about making money, not about the product.

Ain't that the truth! When I was shopping for my girlfriend's Aveo, most of the salesmen I talked to didn't have any idea what the "volt" was. Some of them didn't even know that Chevy was bringing back the Camaro!

I wouldn't be surprised if they said that. Or they lead you to some other car, like a Cobalt

All salesmen I've talked to know less than i do about the car and those that think they know something are generally mis informed or made it up.

I'd like to go to some dodge and ford dealers next year and ask them why I should buy their pony car instead of the Camaro. It might be amusing
