I wouldn't go that far...but this is mass-production. Using a two-piece to get the NVH/durability demands is most likely cheaper than precision-manufacturing a solid piece.

There are no u-joints or lateral movement, so the shaft rides in bearings, so there would be no vibration if enough bearings are used for the length. Also clearance in the tunnel would be greatly increased because the shaft would be like 1.25`as opposed to a 3`inch driveshaft. Less spinning weight etc. like a corvette..
Sounds like that would be a cost-issue, here.

As far as my understanding:
The corvette torque tube as you described above is between the motor and transmission. The torque tube only spins as fast as the engine rpm and thus isn't spinning enough to show wobble or harmonics very often if at all. Max Rpm of 7k+. It does not spin as fast as the drive shaft on the camaro at the same MPH. The camaro driveshaft spins faster as the speeds increase because it is after the transmission. This increased speed attributes to increased wobble and harmonics the faster the car goes. I would think a longer single shaft would be easier to twist and/or bend with stress while a two piece shaft would have the added benefit of the carrier in the center and it's bearing to keep things inline.
But I'm no expert at all...

The torgue tube does not spin. There is a "driveshaft" inside the tube which rotates the transmission input shaft. The pushing force from the transaxle pushes on the torque tube which pushes on the engine which helps propel the car forward through the motor mounts which are bolted between the motor and chassis.

Nope. That is an LSA. Just because it doesn't have quad exhaust tips tells you nothing about the motor, LOL.

You guys seriously think GM would just swap engine covers and post the pic as an LSA?

It is a computer generated image...I'm certain they based this one off the one of the V6 a couple years ago (gosh, has it been that long???)...it would appear they've forgotten to swap the mufflers, though.

I doubt it, unless the V6 had MR suspension, the new rear sway bar mounts, ZL1 brakes, center section, ect.

Tuché on the swaybars...but how can you distinguish those as MR shocks?

Sorry , but anything more than 100% is not mathematically possible .

You can see where the MR system plugs into the top of the rear shocks.

There is a TON of stuff in the pic that tells you it is in fact a ZL1 drivetrain pic (to the well trained eye).

But can you explain why that picture has a L99 Resonator and Trash can mufflers with Single Tips? While ZL1 has quad tips and Doesn't have the trash mufflers??
