There is more cold air for the Vararam, whereas most others have to get the cold air from the stock location.
The Vararam was the only one to me that just made common sense.

The only other cai was the Injen, where it recieved the air from under the car.

TBH I personally have not decided which intake has the best low-mid RPM range gains. but this can be achived by looking at the dyno charts for the various intakes you are comparing. 2K-4K RPM range power increase is what im after vs redline. All in all, I would probably still choose the VR intake. But thats just me. Now if only they would come down $100 lol.

so power @ WOT is sort of the opposite concept of power @ mid-range? Safe to interpret power while blasting it (WOT) vs everyday driving (mid-range)?

A rep from Auto Agenda has this to say about CAI cai
Quote:
CAI is extremely effective, and hands down the best on the market as shown by independent dyno tests
(but do these independent tests include the VR?)

Does this racing scoop/washer recolation/CAI cai cause a CEL or void waranty?

Hey UT-Engineer, take a look at AA's sale for $298.80: http://autoagenda.com/2010-3.6l-v6-c...ram-air-intake

Thanks for the tip. And the power at different RPMs isn't really anything different. Your V6 is rated at 312 HP (@ the crank), 250 HP or so at the wheels (RWHP). As far as i understand, from dyno sheets, the full 250 RWHP is "peak" HP more or less reached at max RPMS. So your car at, say, 3K RPMS isn't putting down the full 250 RWHP, but rather 175-200 (guessing). Its like this for every gear youre in. Correct me if im wrong anyone, but this is how i understand it.

So adding an intake Will increase your RWHP from 250HP to 270HP at "Peak" HP. Reasonably, you'll feel a 10HP gain when under normal acceration (2-5K RPMS). Any performance part (intake, exhaust, S/C, turbos, etc) are going to show you the peak HP gains, which is fine. Its not false advertisement since it is achived but again usually at max RPMS. Under normal driving conditions you wont utilize much of that power until you get your foot on the throttle.

I actually am stuck between the VR and the "Frankenstein" CAI cai+scoop

JUST WANT TO KNOW WHAT GETS THE MOST POWAA [Clarkson voice]

The VR alone has more power than the CAI cai alone, is so much easier to install, cheaper & no HP dif from the Frankenstein

YET

the Frankenstein is "hand down the best"

Vararam or Injen Longtube

And just to add, the VR doesnt generally show gains on the dyno, but it hands down performs just as well as the injen does 0-60
67GTO proved that As for highway runs and such, believe me, this thing just GOES! Try flooring it in third. HOLY $HIT!!
Seriously, once you realize how face the speed picks up, you start to become a firm believer in the intake

that's the thing - doesn't VR's wing and proximity to the grill = the ADM race scoop?

Unless of course you plan on installing an insulator then the VR as of now becomes useless because of the design. It kinda depends on what you're planning to do down the road too.

Vararam or INJEN can't go wrong with either. If you plan to be above 80 MPH often enough to use what the Vararam can provide then I would go this route. If you plan to add the insulator then I would consider the INJEN.

Our system will get you 16 rwhp without any other "add ons" and is super easy to install and will look great. Be careful when doing your research, lots of people and companies post some pretty wild and varying results when it comes to their Dyno testing. Let me know if you have any questions, I would be happy to help anyway that I can.

Thank you Bill. Although, based on Jannetty's results, even with a race scoop CAI's cai made 13/9 hp/tq.

The insulator goes between the intake and the heads. New product just now coming to market. It keeps heat from getting to the intake manifold. May not work well with the Vararam, since it will raise the intake up and the Vararam does not have the ability to go up much if at all.
