First off it is much easier to get a bill passed if the State doesn't have to spend money. So you need to do some research into the subject of license plates on cars in your state. You need to know things like the history of the law, changes in that law, the cost of stamping plates. Then you need to show how the State can SAVE half the cost of making plates and still charge the same rate they are now, giving the State a profit of x-amount of dollars. Then after doing your homework, you need to find a Senator or House of Reps to sponsor your bill. Start out with the ones that are local to you, then branch out from there. You may have to go clear across the State before you find someone interested in sponsoring your bill. Your State Reps are only allowed so many bills per year so timing is important.

Remember we are coming into election years, so any politician that can say "hey I just saved the State 9.5 million a year by sponsoring this bill" is a good thing for all ...

It also helps getting petitions and support from local car clubs and dealerships. You have nothing to lose but a little time ...

For what it's worth, my wife has had 3 bills passed in the past 5 years, concerning childcare laws in the State of Florida.

I deal with this on a daily basis. I have a company that sells license plate mounting systems for foreign cars as they have a tow hook mounting point. The biggest thing I hear from customer is not that they are getting stopped by the police but that they are getting tickets while parked. The major cities are tasking meter maids and parking enforcement with citing vehicles parked on the street with no front plate. They have digital cameras and take a picture of the front the car and the back of the car for evidence. Drivers can not beat it in court. With the economy the way it is cities have a revenue generator that I do not see going away, actually some states like AZ plan to require front plates in the future.

I will be developing a kit for my ZL1 as my universal kit has a tow hook screw in point which is also going to be used for my tow hook point which is required by tracks to quickly move a vehicle off the track in case it is needed.

My dealer has seen my kit and knows not to mount my plate.

That sounds very easy. I'm gonna get started on that right away.

yes it is, countless petitions and motions made in MD to remove front plate. Ignored/dismissed.

Won't put one on mine, but that means I can never drive it to work. When you go through a gate every day onto a military installation you have no choice.

I also, don't have a front tag on my camaro and in the state of Maryland you are required to display a front tag. Although I am a cop and I know better than to ride without a front tag F%#k it... drive on my brothers..

I feel for you guys that have to have front plates. Florida does not require them. Just another reason why moving to Florida or sending your ZL1 to a Camaro5 member for the winter is such a good idea. Taking ZL1 room reservations in sunny, warm South Florida now. Keep those tires from getting too cold, send them south for the winter.

In California they don't have to mount it. They just have to give you the front bracket (by law) and if you tell them you want it mounted i'm pretty sure that they have to do it.

Yep, I'm living in Texas - but no.

I'll just tell 'em it's sacrilege and therefore against my religion to put a front plate on this car.

this is kind of interesting because on other camaro's I have had I had to run them local cops were dicks.

On my Z06 I have never ran one and never been hasseled at all. I have even gotten 120mph ticket in it.

I will not drill into the bumper if I get a ticket I will build or buy a bracket that mounds a diffferent way. I will care the plate with me for a wile and make up some story about the bracket if I get pulled over. then actually fix it if I get a ticket.

In VA we are required to have a front tag. I don't have a tag on any of our GM cars other than the Hummer and Avalanche that we both drive daily. I am NOT going to drill any holes in those cars, period. I was pulled once for the Vette, and just took the ticket. It is a stupid law, and has nothing to do with highway safety. We are going to try to attempt in 2012 to go thru our Senate to have this law changed. Someone has to try.

When I see cars out there with broken windshields, spare tires, and mufflers hanging off, BUT have their inspection stickers, it angers me. I am doing nothing to harm anyone's safety, so therefore, on the various verts and coupes we have, NO TAG for us on the front EVER. The state police that pulls me for that needs to be out giving tickets to the people who are a danger to us and the community. I think its a real asshole thing to do to someone driving a nice car, and I think there is jealousy involved.

Go give tickets to the numerous people who are texting, drinking, speeding and frickn driving in the left hand lane on a cell phone!!! And leave me and my awesome car(s) alone!!!
