Team,
I have asked the dealer to leave the bracket completely off my ZL1 order. He was able to do that as my dealer is out of state. Now Texas dealers may tell you since the car is sold in Texas it has to have the bracket on the order. Now, not everyone is in Texas. I know this has been discussed many times in other threads, but this is specifically for ZL1/Zl1 related. My passed luck in Texas has been this. If you don't run a plate, you get a ticket usually or warnings. Now, I am not Rockefeller or Trump. I can't afford 3 tickets in a given year I do not think. Not so alternative: The electric SHOW N GO LICENSE PLATE ($140) http://www.mycamaromods.com/servlet/...ow-n-go/Detail I had first considered to an alternative to the plate/bracket issue but have realized that SHOW N GO braket will not work with ZL1 or a car that has ground effects. So I have come to the conclusion while I respect everyone to be law biding citizens, and I do not want to encourage anyone not to be a law abiding citizen, I have decided I am NOT going to drill holes in a $60k cars bumper. Period. There are many states that do not require the front plate but I happen to live in one that does require one. My thought is since if you DO get a ticket, its not a drivable offense, it does not go on your driving record. With that being said, I feel that it would be cheaper to pay for a ticket than to damage a $60k cars front bumper. You may say 1BADZL1, that's extreme wording you use. To me, that is what it is. Damage. Damage if someone ever buys your car and you have 4-10 holes drilled into your bumper. It costs money to fill those holes or replace that bumper now that there are holes in it. I cannot change the law, nor do I really want to. How much is a ticket in Texas for no front plate? Anyone know? How about how much is the cost of a ticket in other states? Anyone know? The only way I can think of this being a bad idea is if you happen to get spot by the same patrol officer again and again and you get targeted for no plate. Even so, I think it is cheaper to pay the ticket. There are fellow officers on C5... I also would like to hear your opinion on this particular law. Does it really benefit anyone by having the plate? Things that come to mind, you have to target your laser to the front plate. Right? What about other states where it is not a law to have a front plate? Can you not aim your laser without benefit of a front plate? Traffic light cameras. My opinion on that is, if you run a red light, then the camera will take a pic of the back plate anyway. How can a front plate be that more beneficial to law enforcement than without? And How many ZL1 owners plan NOT to mount the front bracket and why? Also provide details if it is a law in your particular state. Who cares? I think its an important thing to discuss so I care! ![]() Thanks! ![]()

I haven't ran one on my SS. Never had a problem. I don't care what the law is. I'm not drilling into my front end. Just ruins the look too.

This. I won't even accept delivery if they accidentally mount the front plate bracket. To hell with the law, there's no way.

$144. I got pulled over three times the first month I had my new Camaro. Luckily, I just got warnings all three times. But, I was told it was $144 ticket. After the second warning I put the license plate on the dash, viewable through the front windshield, but that was an obstructed license plate which is $144 dollar ticket also. That's Williamson county for you.

I am curious to see what the stock license plate mount will look like....it doesn't look like they'd be able to use the same one from the SS, since the lower grille of the ZL1 is much higher/larger

I also haven't run one on my SS and don't plan to on the ZL1 either. I pass cops everyday and have never been bothered.

I rather just man up and ignore it since I'm not going to change this silly law by myself anyways. If I get ticketed or more attention from the police, so be it, comes with the territory. There was recent legislature to change the front plate law in IL, but I don't know if it got voted down. Too bad if so, it's a ridiculous law anyways.
