I have the silver factory stripes on the Black paint. I think it is the best combo on black paint available.

That being said, in my opinion it depends on what you are doing with your wheels. I like the wheels and accents to match. If you want the black on black wheels stay with the flat dark colors. If you want chrome or brushed wheels i would go with the silver stripes.....

Silver stripes look really good on a black car. I had mine painted for $700.

a gloss black will really show scratches more than the flat....even using a good soft rag will leave scratches. and yes there is a big difference in the quality of materials, especially if you are applying yourself. some will conform to the rise in the hood better than others which is the only hard part of the whole installation. i agree that a stripe painted on it much nicer than a decal (when done right) but it's also permanent. with the decals you can try different stripes till you find what you like then get it painted on.
