I am by no means competing or anything just looking for the best bang for the buck and sound quality. I'm also skeptical about not replacing the 6x9's.

Depends on what you are looking for. If you are going the front stage route, then concentrate your efforts on the front for the time being.
Some people are used to the more "wrap around" feel in a car, though, so a better set of 'by-nines would be called for in this case. Or if you just want overall volume.

Less of what leaves the rear speakers reaches your ears, versus the fronts; but you also typically get more low end (all else being equal) from a 6x9 than a 6.5", so if you aren't running a sub keep that in mind.

or consider the new Arc Audio Black series.
The Black series to me sound alot nicer than the Focal and the Focal is a great sounding speaker.

From what you've described I think I'm in the latter, "wrap around" catagory. Thanks for your input, that helps.

With the right tuning, I don't mind the highs in the rear too much as long as it's not distorted or dominant. When I have some other things paid for and have the extra jingle later this year (only one $612 payment left on my truck), I will probably replace them with Focal coaxials or spring for some Hertz to get the right "fill." And a processo.r
Thanks for the input. There's just toooooo many options out there making it hard to decide. I think I'll just upgrade the speakers front and back and see if that works.

B-B-T, no problem.
I will say, I have had a number of people over the years that wanted a wrap around feel, which I gave them, but also either suggested "try fading it to the front on occasion" or "try this preset out sometime" (if there was a processor) who've come back and told me "wow, took a bit to get used to it, but that front stage thing is the only way I listen, now!"

Lake Cowichan, huh? My wife did some of her student teaching there and Saanich. She's from the Island.

Thanks again Zach, I may try that in the future.

Talk about a small world hey. Not too many people even know where Lake Cowichan is! My wife lived in Tarpon Springs for several years. We've been to Florida many times, just not lately.
