+1 to Epoxy Coat. They're based here in Michigan and a very good company. Although I haven't purchased their product personally, there's a large following of Epoxy Coat users on garagejournal.com and they're quite active on that site. My garage floor has some settling and cracking and I'm not planning on staying in my house longer than a couple more years, otherwise I would have bought the Epoxy Coat a long time ago.

thanks for the input everyone. I though the epoxy would be a cheap investment for my low budget makeover. I figure its not worth skimping on with all the horror stories of what i'm hearing. I think i'll wait and do the race deck. i like the idea of taking it with me if i ever move.

Contact Lindsay at racedeck and maybe the same price is available. She is very helpful. As a matter a fact I just spoke to her this week as I needed 4 extra grey tiles and she sent them to me no charge! Great service.

I paid 500. to have the floor painted the first time and I think the tiles are much better value especially if you have a lot of salt like we do here. The salt ruins the paint fast.
Thank you for the info your garage looks killer !

I did allot of research before doing my garage and the best product I could come up with was Wolverine Coatings. And it didn't disappoint. I'll try and get some pics up of the finished product. So far very durable! I've welded on it and even dropped a big pipe wrench from 6 feet up on a ladder and didn't chip the flooring

As said, take your time and follow directions. CLEAN floor is very important.
+, same here. I am working on 6 years now. Other than me scratching it with the Harley stand it looks new.

We have about 60,000 sq feet of epoxy in our plant, I have tried about every brand including those mentioned above. The best brand for the buck is the Sherman Williams, holds up very well.
The trick to epoxy application, is the floor must be absolutely clean. any oily spots will not adhere for long. Also put down two coats for the get go.

In the plant we recoat about every year, to repair pallet nail scratches. I figure we have about 5/16" thick layer about now.

I think I researched dozens of different types of epoxy coatings and finally went with a product from the "originalcolorchips.com" company. I used the 2 part solvent borne epoxy called Devan 224HS. Then top coated with their solvent borne urathane. You can call them directly and they are very helpful. By thinning the expoxy slightly, I was able to allow the first coat to sink in to the concrete and have enough for a second coat before spreadoing the chips. Same goes with the urathane topcoat. I personally would stay away from the Menards/Home Depot rustoleum kits. Here is a link;

VERY pleased with the results;

Here's a video of the final garage and some pics;

Use some old golf shoes or micky-mouse some 2x4's with nails so you can walk on floor while coating AND while spreading your chips.

How do the epoxy floors hold up to a floor jack?

Do the jack wheels cut or sink into the epoxy?
