I actually know someone who had the acceleration problem occur to them last year. They were lucky to escape with minor injuries. It is shameful that Toyota is hiding behind user error for many of the claims for fear of losing court cases and having to pay millions to those involved in crashes and got hurt.. What a shame..

I wouldn't be caught dead in a Prius by the way.. I just bought a Jeep Grand Cherokee..black I might add, and it eats up gas like there is no tomorrow.. However I feel so much safer in it..

This car handles so well, its like it drives itself! Oh wait, it is driving itself! How can so many people with the Prius possibly have the same problem. 'Too many floor mats' says the technician. Why would people use multiple floor mats? Unfortunately it takes killing some people to get a recall.

Want a good laugh? Look at the Toyota brainwashed minions defending the car and saying the article is fake in the comments section. Hilarity!

I know I was reading that and saying wow. GM just needs Toyota's marketing department.

Possible side effects include, but are not limited to uncontrollable acceleration, and endless heckling.

I love Toyota's thinking...either:

A. People who buy our cars are too stupid to know the brake from the gas. or
B. The only people who own cell phones etc also own Toyotas.

At least thats what I get from it, because I haven't heard of any widespread problem from any other manufacturer that has to do with unexpected acceleration.

I'm pretty sure most of us have cell phones...and I'm pretty sure I don't own a Toyota.
So that rules out B. In their eyes, the obvious answer is then A.

LOL...Thank god I don't own a car from a company that thinks I'm a complete idiot.

This car allready has alot of nicknames, but I'm going to have to submit a new one. I've allready heard it called the Pious, so this one isn't a stretch. I formally submit the name Martyr-Mobile...because anyone willing to drive that and blow themselves up for a cause is exactly that.

Toyota's seem to have an acceleration problem. I've heard about similar issues on a bunch of different vehicles, all from Toyota.

Didn't I say that car was evil, a while back? Huh!? Huh?!

Demonic, I tell you........

And then Toyota's minions AGAIN.....blame the problem on the consumer, publicly.
Quote:
"You get these customers that say, 'I stood on the brake with all my might and the car just kept on accelerating.' They're not stepping on the brake," says Toyota corporate spokesman Bill Kwong. "People are so under stress right now, people have so much on their minds. With pagers and cell phones and IM, people are just so busy with kids and family and boyfriends and girlfriends. So you're driving along and the next thing you know you're two miles down the road and you don't remember driving, because you're thinking about something else."
I dunno about everyone else...but if my freaking car starts accelerating on it's own...I sure as damn well know which pedal is the brake and when it's not working.......

Toyota always blames problems on the consumer...and if it's proven that they messed up, they never issue "recalls," always "service campaigns" or some BS like that.

GM actually has the balls to come out and say, "Yeah, we messed up. We'll fix it, our bad."

I'm actually surprised people aren't outraged and writing their poloticians trying to get these unsafe vehicles off the road.

Yes, you just witnessed a thinly veiled suggestion.
