Who needs mirrors anyways... Take them off and make the car more Aerodynamic Maybe thats like performance stickers... removing mirrors adds 25hp per mirror

Seriously though. I guess its time to re-design the hauling trailers... anyone wanna make millions

Yeah and plus the fact that you're only gonna be seeing Mustanks and Challys in those mirrors anyway. Who wants to see that all the time?

Get that duct tape off of there immediately.

If you are going to put anything on it cover the hole using painters masking tape so that it doesn't leave residue behind which will lead to scratches when they try to scrub it off or have to use goo gone to remove it.

Thanks for the responses and condolences. My understanding was that the mirror was damaged prior to unloading in Pamama City. The truck driver had apparently immobilized the flail appendage with duct tape to stop further damage during transport to Pamama City. My dealer offered to keep the car for 2 or 3 days until repaired or I could have it with the hole covered until the new mirror came in . He knew the first option was not going to be my choice. I agreed with the duct tape knowing that it was only for 2 or 3 days and it was not going to be sunny the next couple of days and thus bake that tape onto the paint. I, however, have heeded the advise of you guys and removed the duct tape and replaced it with Painters tape which I have rolls of in the shop. The tape residue was easily removed with OMNI AU cleaner which I use to prep and clean car parts prior to painting (its basically mineral spirits). No paint damage.
I have attached a rear end pic without the mirror
