The first day it could have made it to the dealer was Tuesday due to the Memorial Day Holiday on Monday. My car was estimated to make it to Petersburg on Wednesday, but as of noon yesterday it still had not made it there. I am hoping to get a call today to let me know my car is in Petersburg, and will be at my dealer on Friday or Saturday. The manager at my dealership told me once it makes the railyard it will leave quickly because unfortunately the haulers are not delivering many other cars besides Camaros.

I went to look at the V6 demo car last night. It is a SIM 2LT/RS, and it looks real sweet. They have it on the showroom floor. There were plenty of people who came by that day to see what the 2010 Camaro is all about. I hope it leads to many more sales. GM need a hot selling car and I think they have one.

How quickly the tide can change!: This afternoon I got a call from my dealer. I was expecting them to tell me that my car had made it to Petersburg, VA and would be at the dealership in one to two days. Instead of this I was told that they had called someone at GM and they were told that when my car went to shipped status it did not mean that the car was loaded on the train and shipped to Petersburg as would be the normal status quo, but rather it ment my car had been picked up by a truck and taken off site to have the stripes installed. In addition to this my car will later be returned to the factory after the stripes are installed. Finally my car has been identified to be part of a lot of cars which will be quality audited to ensure the stipes are straight or whatever, and that they hope to have this quality audit completed by the middle of June. After the audit is over they hope to have all the cars shipped within 48 hours. This means that in less than 48 hours I have went to thinking my car will be delivered any day now to not having a chance in hell of having the car delivered any sooner than one month from now.

Interesting information for sure. I too feel your pain (in QC), I am starting to believe some of these bankruptcy theories more and more.

If they are really holding you car that long to ensure the stripes are straight, we could just be looking at cleans books for GM at this point.

I am thinking the bankrupcy theories could be starting to hold water as well. All afernoon I have analyzed the he** out of this situation to try and make sense of it, but no sense can be made. If the car is being picked up at the factory to be taken off site to have the "factory installed stripes" installed then they are not "factory installed stripes" at all, now are they? In addition to this it stands to reason that GM would have made more money from this option had they simply had the dealer install the stripes as per all other colors excluding white and cyber gray, right? Oh well I guess I will calm down a bit by tomorrow, but right now I just need to vent a little.

This will be the first car I have purchased from this dealer. My wife's Monte Carlo was purchased at Edington Chevrolet in Edington, VA. We purchased that car in 2005 when GM had employee pricing going on. At that time you needed to find the car you wanted in stock at a dealer and that is why we drove 2 hours to pick up the car in Edington. Having said that the manager at Casey has tried to keep me informed (good and bad) to the best of his ability and I would say at this point that I trust him.

Bummer! But, Mike, I don't think their filing Chapter 11 has anything to do with your delay. Other cars have been chosen for a thorough QC inspection and therefore held up too recently. Unlucky for you, but at least it'll mean your car should arrive in primo condition, as well as, if flaws are found, helping many others receive their cars in top notch shape as well.
It may just be part of the new production car learning, quality assurance curve. Granted though, it's a bitch waiting even longer than you expected. Let's see what happens with my car that's getting "factory" CGM stripes and I was expecting to receive mid next week.
Hang in there, buddy!!!

At this point it is all very frustrating, but we just need to hang in there (hopefully) a little longer.

Crap Mike! That sucks bro. I just got my VIN today, I have a RJT w/ silver dealer installed stripes, its possible we could get our cars on the same train. I would expect w/ out any QC holds, since no factory stripes it should be roughy 2-3 weeks or so before mine arrives via courteosy delivery to Hall Chevy in Chesapeake via Les Stanford in Michigan. I got MSRP from Les. Hall wants 10k on the SS`s..So mine will end up there just not w/ the 10k markup...

We need to hookup once we get our cars, I`m actually going out to Jenro`s in VB this saturday around 3pm, a buddy of mine just got a solstice gxp hardtop in blue, he figures it will be a rarity w/ Pontiac going away and them only making a few hardtops. If you head out there ask the guy w/ the Solstice (Chris) where I`m at, my names Mike also.

Take it easy, it will be here before you know it!

Thanks for the words of encouragement Mike. I appreciate it. I saw a thread of a RJT with CGM stripes the other day and it looked awesome. I am sure your RJT with silver stripes will look great as well. I actually originally ordered a black 2SS/RS with silver stripes but later changed the stripes to CGM because I thought the silver would stand out on the black more than I would like. Just a matter of personal preference of course. Today though, I am kind of wishing that I would have had the car built with the silver stripes. Hooking up once we get our cars sounds good. I have never been to Jenro's in VA Beach, but I have heard it is a good place to go with the classic cars on Saturday nights. I have a 76 Camaro which I get out of the garrage occasionally. If I decide to get it out and venture to VA beach around 3:00 p.m. on Saturday I will ask Chris where you are.

Jenro`s is a great place to hang out. I will be there in my Vette, the one I have now is black, traded the blue one, it should be by the blue solstice, black firebird and a dark red Vette.. A bunch of us go to the dragstrip together and other stuff, there is a local website we are all on and we plan trips ect.. from there.

I like the CGM stripes on black as well, it is a more sublte look, I fell in love w/ a photoshop pic from the forum of an RJT w/ the silver Rally`s and a huge carburated blower sticking out of the hood. After that, that was the color combo I had to have.

I`m keeping my fingers crossed on your car, it should be soon. My dealer just got the invoice on mine friday, barring Quality hold, it should be here soon!

Mike
