I hope you can get one. I'm 17 and currently have a 2SS/RS on order (and after this people are probably gonna say "ITS TOO MUCH POWER FOR A KID SO YOUNG!!", and then I'm going to ignore them because everyone has this preconceived thought that all teenagers can't drive blah blah blah)

Like I said above........What a lot of people do not understand at your age, is it is less about SKILL and more about 6th sense, and a feel that you develop that ONLY COME WITH TIME AND EXPERIENCE. It is very much like Karate. You go in and learn the moves, and hell it doesn't take long to learn the motions, but you get your ass kicked for the first 4 years. You need to develop the INSTINCT.

We were all there, I was sixteen 23 years ago....guess what, it feels like yesterday, you will see. People told me the same thing I am telling you and I was like, "yeea right" now I see they were right and so will you. I just hope the lesson you learn is not too hard, like Mr Big Shot Hulk Hogans Kid.
http://www.cnn.com/2007/SHOWBIZ/TV/08/26/hogan.crash/

You are not born with true drivers skills, they are built on INSTINCT WHICH MUST BE BUILT OVER TIME!

i would just like to say thank you to everyone who has commented on my thread i really hope that you have enjoyed getting to read it, and i also really want to thank everyone who supports my endeavors and i completely understand everyone who suggests alternatives. i am very lucky to have camaro5 as a resource that is open to me, so thank you and i hope everyone who continues to hear my story will get a kick out of it. it sounds like some people get a flash back to when they were sixteen whenever they read what is happening to me, so if nothing else maybe my story can be somewhat of a time machine for everyone, and this time machine doesn't need to reach any certain speed to work and you won't get chased by terroist in a mall parking lot. once again thank you to everyone on the forum.

You've got a good head on your shoulders, stay close to your parents and enjoy your new ride whatever that may be!!

hmm i guess having a certified 9.90 competition nhra license before a drivers license and making sub 10 second passes in a built car down the qtr mile has never been done by a 16 year old hundreds of times..My 15 year old daughter is in the elevens in my LPE z06 at the 1/4mi track and she only has a learners permit...i let her drive me around town, hwys and road trips in it all the time..matter of fact she is the only one who i will let drive it besides me. The point I am making is "the to much power" rule does not apply to every youngster, until you know his background dont assume. I started driving on my own at age 12 and started my daughter at the same age, back in 1989 when i was 16 it was nothing for my dad to throw me the keys to his vette to drive to school, because i didnt have gas in my mazda..I'm from Georgia and that was common practice for a lot of kids out in the country, the Original Poster is from south georgia so it's probably safe to assume he is growing up the same way.

actually like you said i am from south georgia and it is common practice with my father also to let me drive him around where ever we go and he started to let me drive around since i was around 13 years old. and i know the camaro has still has alot of power but my father has always driven BMWs and that was what i was taught to drive in so i feel that i do have some feel for what power feels like.

so once again i would just like to say thank you for the advice in this thread but i would truly appreciate it if posters would respect my only wish when i originally posted this thread and not turn this into a bash thread. all comments positive and any comments about different options that i could use in the future, but please respect what i stated before.
