I believe 2011 - 2012 models do not have guiding posts on their bowtie. So the fishing line will not slide all the way from one side to the other. You need to slide the fishing line until it hits the post on each side. Once you've done that, the bowtie comes off easily. I took a flat plastic detail tool and gently lifted the bowtie off. But I could have probably just pulled it with my hands because it was pretty much coming off the car already.

Once removed you're left with 2 small guide post holes (early 2010 models). The holes get covered up by the vinyl or the SS emblem or both.
