i would think manuals will have the better resale value down the road. Cars are starting to lose the manual option and only come automatic. Plus people like the ls3 that goes on the manual.

If the world is dominated with autos then manuals will be worth more down the road.

You forgot to mention, will the new Camaro be a daily driver,or a weekend cruiser?,or ?I wouldn't get a manual if your going to be driving in stop & go traffic everday, and the Fact that you live in North Dakota(I'm thinking alot of snow in the winter-time),a manual wouldn't be wise as a daily driver.

I ordered my 1LT/RS with an Automatic...why?I live in Michigan,we get alot of snow in the winter, and mine will be a daily driver. And i test drove a 1LT/RS with an Automatic, and i must say i love the "tap-shift" controls on the steering wheel,It's just like shifting with a manual, except with the auto your using your fingers, and a manual you use both your feet and both your hands..and the tap-shift shifts faster than a manual.(depending on how fast you can shift a manual)Another issue i considered was if you have back problems,a manual would be...Ouch!!!

Don't get me wrong I would love to have a "manual"...under the right circumstances(driven in spring, fall, summer)as a 2nd car.The manual would be alot more fun to drive IMHO.

One other issue you may want to consider would be maintence on the Auto vs manual. The Auto will basically be maintence free for at least 5 years or longer. The manual, you will eventually have to have the clutch replaced at your cost$$$.

alright. Do you think if I made the change it may push my order to the back of the line? I just ordered 4/6/09. I know there were a couple orders ahead of me. I have not recieved a production date yet either...

I read that the U.S. is already dominated by automatics, but it's the opposite in Europe - 80% of U.S. cars are automatics while 80% of European cars are manual.

Down the road, assuming that road is 4 years or so away, the resale value is not going to be hardly any different with an automatic or manual. Instead of worrying about the resale value, I would simply get whichever YOU prefer.

And I disagree with the poster who said you'll definitely be replacing the clutch at some point. I've been driving manuals all my life and never replaced one. I sold my '84 Z28 to a friend who still has it - that car is 25 years old and has almost 150K miles on it now and still on the original clutch.

resale value differential will be nothing...and remember you pay more for the automatic trans..

That said....get the transmission that you want..

No wrong choice just a personal preference..

Most people will ask you when you drive up....Is it an automatic or a manual trans...?

I don't know exactly why but people seem to always give a thumbs up when you answer Manual trans...

That said...get what you'd enjoy driving..

I'm daily driving a manual corvette and its great...

Hey, Mikey.

What did you finally decide? Both options are great.

Forget about resell for a minute. That's the wrong point of view. When you sell it, it's only for a short period of time and then it's gone.

You'll probably keep your Camaro for years. That's the point of view to examine this question.

What will bring you more joy as you turn the key?
