They will last right up until the fiery crash consumes them....

While it is an indicator of use, that is just a raw data point. One data point is not the whole story.

I can ruin a car within 10 km. But the odometer will read only 10 km, and it will be a very low odometer reading vehicle, correct? But it will be in poor condition

In the 21st century, materials are chosen with greater care. Techniques are much better, quality overall is high compared to cars from even a decade or two ago.

For example, primers on metals are now 'weld-through' primers. Tolerances are more tightly controlled overall. Rev limiters are commonplace now. ECUs can prevent engine damage. Relax and enjoy your car

Shocks, struts, brake pads, these things are consumable items anyway. Your car will last a long time.
GM warranties our engine and tranny for 100,000 miles, because it's a very safe bet that those components will be fine. This does not mean that they will fail shortly after that, by any means. But technology and materials are far superior now to what we had just a few short years ago.

It's not uncommon to 300,000 miles on the odometers of GM products... and still running great. It depends on how you drive it, how you maintain it, and... luck of the draw.

Yeah, seeing the number on the odometer get higher IS a bummer, but, the only way to not do that is to not drive the car... not an option! Drive, it love it, don't stress it, and if/ when something breaks, just fix it, and keep on drivin'!

I'm not sure if the vortech engines are similar in durability to the LS engines but my 08 chevy work van has 193k on it now with no major repairs. Just oil changes and belts and fluid change service on the trans and rear diff.

We tear down motors broken in properly and full syn run the life and see them w/150-200-250k miles still looking like new inside so the skys the limit if cared for properly. We rarely sell a car until after 200k miles on it, and our first C5 drag car we started racing at 20k miles and when we sold it with over 200k on it it was still going strong......same motor, and this car was many times driven 1000 plus miles following the team race rig, raced, won more often than not, and driven back.

It depends on if you take care of the car.
I had a co-worker once that had over 400K miles on his chevy and was still driving it an hour each way to work. I also have a friend that can seemingly break any car within a week lol. (he use to do brake jobs every 3 months becuase of his driving >.< )
Take care of the car and it will last a long time. We have over 130K miles on our 2002 Trans Am and the engine still runs just as strong as it did the day we bought it.
