That is a somewhat complicated question to answer.

An order can be placed by a customer at a dealership at anytime. However, just because an order has been placed at a dealership does not mean that an order will progress beyond the initial placement stage (status 1100). An order will not progress and will stay at status 1100 until the dealer uses an available allocation to submit the order and the order has been accepted by General Motors (status 2000). Therefore, if a dealership does not have an available allocation to use, or if an order is not accepted by General Motors for any reason, such as if an item on the order is on constraint and not available at the time the order is submitted, the order will not move forward.

Vehicles, such as ZL1s, and possibly 1LEs, have a limited number of available allocations, and many dealers may not have any allocations to submit for those vehicles for quite a period of time. Therefore, be sure to find out whether the dealer has an available allocation for you for the vehicle that you want to order. If the dealer has an available allocation, the dealer may not know when that allocation will be able to be submitted for production to General Motors.

A more straight forward question to answer is how long does it take from the time an allocation for an order is submitted by the dealer and accepted by General Motors (status 2000) and when the vehicle is delivered to the customer (status 6000).

In general, based on past deliveries, it appears that approximately eight weeks is a reasonable estimate for the time required from when an order is accepted by General Motors (status 2000) and when the vehicle is actually delivered to the customer (status 6000).

I signed the order for my 2013 ZL1 at the dealer on 7/23/2012. As of 8/14/2012, it is being shipped/enroute to dealer. Dealer indicates I should have the car in a week.

It appears that you're thinking that the initial ZL1 Convertibles won't spend an extensive amount of time in QC hold. Let's hope not.

I was indeed anticipating the typical 4-week QC hold for new cars, but my dealer tells me my car is already bayed, and it's indicated on the dealer invoice that it has an EXP I/T of 8-22-12, which supposedly? means they have until 8-22-12 to get it to the dealer.

Time will tell.

probably be ready for you Early November, 1st or 2nd week of November; that's my guess.

Ordered mine on 6/28 Order number QKWZS1 with no progress. Called GM customer service and they said they cannot give me any idea when it will be built. I have sold my SS to purchase this car and it is very difficult sharing cars. If you can help me get get some idea when my car will be built it would be most helpful.
