Anyone who has ordered Camaro in May.

My order went in on Tuesday, it's at 3000 today.

Ordered on saturday May 23rd. Got an order number yesterday. Dealer informed me that I am currently #1 for their next allocation for June, which should come any day now. Much more to come...

Should also note, he said to most likely expect the car to arrive between the middle of August to early September, although it could come earlier. No one really knows, and if they tell you for sure... theyre feeding you assumptions.

maybe GM is pushing variants that they know they can roll before June 1 when GM files BR....

do you actually expect them to come out and lay it out there....
that is bad business.

i ordered may 5th or so. Dealer told me july august. He called me the next week and said he would be surprised if didnt show up by july. I think it probably has to do with his allocations. He is a big dealer. They had 6 right off the bat, and had three on way the last i knew. So the last i knew I was 5 of 5. I havent been called on an update though. I have seen a lot of may orders on here promised by july

What does a dealer allocation exactly mean? I think i am like #19 or 18 out of 25 allocations and they are still telling me GM wont accept the order till early fourth quater.

Well will all cars GM gives cars to dealers by allocation. Its a formula that basically is based off the size of dealers and their sales. So example you have a dealer who is small and small sales they are given 3 camaros a month. Which being being 18 or so out of 25 sounds about right. Now a bigger dealer that has more sales might have more like 6-10 camaros a month, thus you get your car faster. This is the basics there might be more too but this is the jist.Like my dealer got 6 right off the bat. We had 14 orders there, I was number 14. So now I am at 8 of 8 unless more came. And they were getting 3 more a week ago, which puts me at 5 of 5. So I am assuming my dealer is getting 6-9 per month so I should get mine next month.

GM will only accept so many orders a month from each dealer. The number is set by GM and is determined by the past sales performance of that dealer. Dealers who moved more units (made GM more money) will get to make more orders to GM because GM believes they will more likely move (sell) them quickly and thusly, make even more money for GM.

The dealer can take all the customer orders they want to. Its up to the dealer to determine how many customers they want to string along. A dealer may have 50 customers who filled out order request, but GM will only accept that dealers allocation.

if GM set an allocation of 5 Camaros a month for a dealer, and that dealer has 10 orders at the start of that month. GM will only accept and begin processing and building 5 of those 10 orders during that month.

the remaining 5 orders will not be touched by GM till the following month, of course the dealer might have gotten even more orders.

the only thing the dealer has control over is the sequence in which he has his outstanding orders. meaning a disreputable dealer could take an order from a close friend and put it on the top of his list to be picked up next by GM.

on a normal production line, the numbers of orders to production have averages and a dealer can estimate to the week how log it will take to fill a custom order.

this line is just starting, it's popular, new lines always have bugs to work out, the dealers have no averages by which they can calculate an estimate for delivery.

everybody just need to learn patience and chill out.

i grant you that we are hearing some stories of dealers doing questionable things and many people aren't pleased with GMs handeling of this release and it only adds to frustration when the process is not as transpareant as we would like.

2 options;

A) wait for your car, allow the process to work it's self out.
B) take your business elsewhere, no one is making you buy a Camaro.

We are pretty much in the same boat. I ordered mine last day of April from a pretty small dealer, and I am at 3000 with TPW of 6/15-6/21. I am actually surprised with how fast its coming along, I wasnt expecting it until the end of the year, but at this rate its looking closer to aug/sep delivery. knock on wood!
