That's what I was thinking, but I've read posts that doing a 9" is more for the strip rather than taking turns. For that reason, I've been waiting for the Hammerhead, or the release of the ZL1 conversion.

I think the 9" kits that are now available are more refined than the first ones. Youll have to find someone that drives one around.Last thing you want is a "spirited" launch from a light and boom!!:(

The world behind closed doors is that a DANA 60 is coming for the 5th gen that will put the 9" to shame.

Here's my plan of thought, I have all the parts listed in my sig. I'm waiting to get it all done so late because I broke my ankle and I just had surgery on it today. Hurts like hell too. If the tank has to be dropped to install and plumb the new pump, then the rear diff. would be coming down too. So why not just put a whole new rear in anyway. Do it once.

I wouldn't worry about saving time. We swung a new rear in my car last wk in under 30 minutes. That's old out, new in. Teds guys have got it down to a science.

But doing everything at once would be the way to go.

I'm really leaning towards the ZL1 rear, even though it's added weight, but I'm not 100% sure what is involved in the install. I know I need the the hubs, shafts, all the goodies that go along with it, but other than that, is it a simple swap or is it more involved. For just a little over $3k, it seems like a good way to go unless DSS has competitive pricing on the new Hammerhead.

I don't know enough about the ZL1 rear to comment. Has anyone pushed one yet? I gotta believe its not as strong as your other options.

From what I've read they can handle a lot. I believe one of the sponsors on here has pushed 800+ at the rear. The rear is made of cast iron, and not like the tin that I have. Comes with 3.73

And they have a cooler on them which claims to lower heat by 100 degrees
