So we still don't know what it does. I am pretty sure that there is not a single wasted compontment on these cars. Ok maybe the stock mufflers.

In transportation we call it the 'skid guard.' It's used as a warning so that you don't drag a large rock or similar item across your undercarriage. That's also why it's build to tear away so easily.

So let me get this straight....the assumption is, based on brief testing and single data points in completely uncontrolled experiments, that leaving the diffuser off is fine, because well, a bunch of people say "yeah, it's fine if it's not there but I don't know why"

I just want to make sure I understand the science behind this

the small rubber lip under the front bumper is there to slow the air that moves under the car therefore creating a lower pressure under the car to prevent lift under high speeds.....

I'm going with this statement.

I would believe if the rubber lip was at the edge of the front bumper (like a spoiler), it would create a lower pressure under the flat bottom of the undercarriage bumper.
But since it's at the end of it where air has access to the move freely through the structure it might just do the opposite...creating lift pressure in front of it.

I remember quite vividly the front end lift @ above 125mph... like way too much!!

I would like to get the DEFINITIVE answer on this matter...Does the 1LE, ZL1 or Z/28 has it?

In my opinion the manufacturer put it there for a reason be it functional or cosmetic. If it was not needed GM could save a whole lot of money. again just my opinion...

lol

I lowered my ride about 18months ago, and 2wks ago I was on a 3-4hr road trip at night, ran over... something... and when I checked for damage, found it half torn off... so I removed it completely. Currently not planning to replace it. I'm installing my APR splitter soon so I'd have to remove it anyway...
