Go to any of your local auto parts store, and they will have a whole array of LED lights you can use under your hood.

Seriously we talking about a $2 design if mass produced.
Also annoying is that the garage door opener does not light up at night!

My '97 Riviera had an underhood light. Never saw it work; car never broke down at night

My '70 Buick has no underhood light, and to be honest, I never needed it in the 250,000+ miles I racked up on that car

I think today that cars are reliable enough so that the 2 dollar light x 1 million vehicles= 2 million dollars in wasted effort

As far as the garage door lights go, my salesman told me that the car didn't come with it when I asked about the buttons. He told me that they were blanks, so I believed him until I found out later on this site. So I totally agree they need lights. Then at least the salesperson won't think they are blanks.
My 89 Chevy truck had one with the retractible cord and a magnet on it... never used it but one time I got my oil changed and someone turned it on and left it, I didnt drive it for several days then when i went to start it my battery was run down. When I jumped it off I noticed the light came on, I was upset.

The missing engine light doesn't bother me so much...however the lack of an illuminated garage door light drives me Nucking Futs!!! A HUGE oversight by GM interior designers.

For some bizarre reason, they felt that adding more expensive, non-functional light strips along the door panels and dash were of greater importance than adding functional illumination around the 3-buttons for the garage.

Strange how such a small omission can annoy the living $h!t out of me every time I drive the car at night.

Some underhood lights that were factory installed only illuminated the brake reservoir.

So easy and not expensive

Just go and buy 3.00$ leds set up. Tap the battery post under the red cap and tap the ground post, using electrical clips for both. You can install more than 1 light as going on a continuous circuit. I installed a switch so I can open-close the lights at my choice, some one esle could make them automatic, but they will stay open untill you close the hood or a different set up, it's up to you.

ics are not the greatest but it gives you an idea.

Most lights I ever saw under the hood of a vehicle was useless anyway. I don't play under the hood of my brand new car enough to need a light at any rate. I have a Surefire G2X light in the coin tray and I carry a Streamlight Stylus Pro in my pocket at all times. And my cell phone has a light. All three are of far more use than a ratty under hood light.

There are, you just have to look on the internet. Colors available too. Blue, red, white. Nice at car shows. Usually leds, that will provide ample light if you get the white ones.
