Why is there no light in the engine department?

God forbid if you have to open the hood at night in the middle of nowhere with no flashlight handy.
Seriously we talking about a $2 design if mass produced.
Also annoying is that the garage door opener does not light up at night!

As for the garage door opener, since I have a two car garage with one door, I took a little black stick on rubber foot and put it on the button I use . The rubber foot for lack of a better word is something you might see on the bottom of a small modem. Kind of like braille.

If you own a cell phone, which I am sure most do, then you could always download a free flashlight app for your phone. I agree though there should be some kind of light under there.

I guess we didn't pay enough for these cars not to have an under hood light and and the garage door openner.

I have a sun roof and some times I push the button for the sun roof instead of the garage. P----- me off.

Surely there must be a reasonably priced after-market light for under the hood. Anyone?

These cars don't ever break at night. It's a GM only design.

Besides most people have no idea what the they are looking at under there anyhow.

A flashlight works well... I have one of those that you crank to charge. I keep it in the console.

I can see no light under the hood as you're correct most people would not know what they are looking for in the first place, and if you're getting gas and you want to check your oil our what ever there's plenty of light there to see what you are doing.
But there's three garage door buttons and they should be lite up.

Although an under hood light sounds like a left out useful feature, they are really not useful at all.
I have them on my Silverado and Corvette. They are pretty much useless, since they are stationary and they don't really put out enough light in the right places anyway.
Your still going to need a flashlight if you want to look around for potential issues.

As for the light on the garage door buttons, I completely agree there.
GM should have put some kind of lighted button there

But, you can do this yourself if your into DIY projects.

Ford, at least back in the late 80's, at least on their trucks, had nice underhood lights. The light was actually on a retractable cord that could reach almost to the back of the vehicle. So you could take it to the back if you had to change a tire at night. It also had a magnet so you could pretty much place it where you needed it.

As far as the garage door lights go, my salesman told me that the car didn't come with it when I asked about the buttons. He told me that they were blanks, so I believed him until I found out later on this site. So I totally agree they need lights. Then at least the salesperson won't think they are blanks.
