I fail to see how the ZL1 could possibly sound any different. It's a 6.2L with a blower on it. The only difference in sound it should have is the sound of the tires screaming in pain. Other than that they should be pretty much the same.

I heard a ZL1 going down the street yesterday, and that sounded good. I hate to say this on a Camaro forum, but the Mustang GT 5.0 sounds way better to my ears (a smoother sound, less drone).

The dealer didn't have a regular exhaust SS that didn't have a dead battery, so no comparison could be made there.

Are sure that the others SS all had dead batteries , or (1) the sales guy had enough of you , or (2) you are a troll ,

Preference of an exhaust note is subjective. It's pointless to argue.

The real question is what's the likeliness that you would keep the stock exhaust if you bought an SS or GT 5.0? One of my friends got a 2012 5.0 a few months ago and the first thing he did was swapped out the stock exhaust for a catback system. IMO, the car sounded nice but average with the stock system but it did sound good with the catback he installed on it, same time I'm sure a 5th gen SS would be the same way.

I am sure the test drive was slamming gears in the 4000 rpm range too right with the salesman screaming at you to slow down.......The dual mode works good and now that i own it on my newer camaro i would have purchased it for my other 2011 vert had i known it was so good.......nuff said, and p.s. dodge made magnum wagons with a single exhaust to sound like muscle cars.........maybe you should get one....

Puertoricanfont, bigbob11, and dcoates18481, Thanks for the suggestion of headers. No doubt, it doesn't get better than that, especially long tubes. I love the sound of a good header engine. Unfortunately, I live in California, and I don't know of any that are CARB approved.

Seems like we've got three trolls right here. It's pathetic that someone can't have a differing opinion without the trolls coming out of the woodwork.

If everyone just says every aspect of the car is perfect, do you think GM is ever going to improve it? That's what killed Gen. 4. They didn't update it.

I was there. He made a number of attempts to start the car. The battery was dead. Live with it.
