Invos IMO have terrible traction. I drag and DD my car and I have recently replaced my stock tires with 11" wide rims wearing 315 nitto invos. Definetly more wheel spin off the line now..

OP, If you only drive in dry weather then get the Mickey Thompson ET street II drag radials. You will never get better street tires for drag traction than these.

However, if you like going on road trips and get caught in the rain from time to time then the Vredstein are going to be the tires to go with.

Another thing OP, if you have never owned drag radials (555r, nt05r, MT et2 dr's, etc) They hydroplane insanely easy in the smallest amount of water. 555r's may be the best choice for DR's in the rain but it still should be avoided.

Just google drag radials in the rain to see all the 'totaled my stang' threads. My friend spun and hit the wall while going straight on the highway at 30mph with nt05rs.

. OP. I've run every drag radial there is. Nitto 555R's are your best compromise. I've pulled 1.57 60ft times with those tires and driven them in down pours. MT's/Hoosiers will give you slightly better grip at the track but are not streetable in the wet. You're getting tons of bad info from people with no real experience. NT05/ET streets/Hoosier/M&H drags do NOT work in the rain.
People suggesting invos/Vredestein have never been to a track. Those are street tires, on a prepped dragstrip you might as well pour cooking oil under your tires.

If you're serious about a dual purpose street/track tire 555R: END THREAD.

If its a daily driver NT555R is really your only choice.
I run NT555Rs all summer (rainy season - rains every day). I just make sure to put a fresh set on at the beginning of the rainy season. I have no issues with them and get pretty decent traction in the rain.

I personally would not run MT drag radials as a daily driver tire in areas that get frequent to occasional rain.

What I was trying to say earlier, I would never run any kind of drag radial in the rain 555 or not. It's not worth the risk. Get some MT's for the track and a second set of rims with vredstein.

I've daily-driven on the 275-40-20 Nitto 555R, driven in very heavy rain, even standing water, never had issues and I was expecting some.

I started running these in mid September of last year and I just put them back on again. We'll see how I do with the new converter:

Last year

wow..thanks for all of your help guys. I appreciate everyone's feedback. It seems like its just a toss up on which direction I should really take. I was hoping for the best 50/50 mix, not having 2 sets because that would be a pain to do every time I went to the track. I'll have to take my chances on the 555r's and take it from there.

its probably the best way...2 sets for 2 purposes. can get some cheapo all seasons for daily driving and get a track set. more affordable in the long run as well.

there is no 50/50 comprimise in life

Hoosters and Mickey thompsons hook way better than nittos NT05rs but I agree with those guys up top if this is your daily driver and you will drive this in the rain then the nitto 555r is your best bet.

You could try 555Rs on the front ans NT05Rs on back, but you'd have to drive really carefully in the rain.

Personally I'm about to get some Hoosier 315/35R18s
But this isn't my daily

NT555R, NT05, or NT05R?

I'm looking for a nice DD during the summer.

I may just end up with Vreds for all year round. I already am in process of ordering 275/40/20 and 315/35/20.

So I decided to go with the NT555Rs. An 18" setup wouldn't work with my SS, right? And they don't offer 19's so I would have to go with 20. What are the tire specs that I need to buy? And where is the cheapest place to buy these tires?
