California is a bad place to live if you want to modify your car. There are ZERO CAI's that comply with emmission laws, so you'd have to replace the stock one before you go in for testing. No big deal since it only takes about 15min to do the swap.
How does an air intake affect emissions? I thought all it did was help with the temp of the air getting sucked into the engine?

Edit: Forgot to mention, I do know at least shorties are worthless when trying to get gains, and can actually cause a loss in power. Was able to find that much with Google-fu. Haven't seen any mid-tube options for Camaros either, just short and long.

That's because California is run by idiots who think that if it involves an engine, it must be pollution heavy. So they go and ban every aftermarket part you can think of.

I have quite a bit of experience dealing with Chev on heavily modified cars. This isn't directly relating to a brand new camaro, but rather a brand new cobalt. I had bare minimum 8g in aftermarket parts on it including everything from exhaust, STS, H/E, CAI, injectors, different supercharger pulley, motor and tranny mounts, STB, etc. I had my warranty for the full 60,000km and never had a problem. They always relaid to me and this is the important part that I think people need to realize... "If the aftermarket part directly relates to the cause of the issue/problem, then warranty pertaining to that issue will be void, BUT the remainder of the warranty on the vehicle is still active." Keeping this in mind if you put an exhaust system on and your cruise control gives up the ghost, or coolant is leaking warranty isn't going to be a problem.

Oh don't even get me started with the ridiculousness of emissions laws here. I have a particular rant about the bollocks gas standards.

I do understand the need for emissions regs to an extent though. LA used to be absolutely rotten with smog. Not quite Beijing, but close.

The only thing I'm concerned about is power train. I'd hate to have something happen to the engine that wasn't actually caused by mods just to have some douchey service manager or GM blame the mod and screw me out of my coverage. I don't have 40 grand to drop everyday, took me years to save up for this as it is.

If one dealership decides to be a douche go to another. They CAN NOT legally void all of your warranty. You're safe as long as what you're doing doesn't harm your car. If you get it tuned and blow up, don't expect a new motor. If you an intake in and your head gasket goes, not a problem. This is my experience at my dealership, but I love them, they bend over backwards for me.

Your lucky!!

Others will bend YOU over and give you the whole shaft!!

I wouldn't trust a tech to touch my power train anyhow lol. They can fix my power seats and windows though lol. Not all now, but alot of them lol.

All of those mods are DIY-able if you have access to jack stands or a lift. Talk to Apex Chase, he'll be able to give you all the info on this stuff. If you're looking for an exhaust, check out the Stainless Works retro chambered cat back.

Are these headers long tubes? Can you provide a link or part number to both items?

Cat Back-
http://www.stainlessworks.net/featur...0-exhaust.html

I can't find the actual green cat price with the headers, but here are the headers themselves-
http://marylandspeed.com/kooks-long-...11-p-2674.html

MD speed could give you the price with the green cats if you called them.
