Warranty Safe Mods

So I'm still deciding between auto or manual, but wanted to know what HP increasing mods could be done that wouldn't void the warranty (partly so that if I do go auto I can make up whatever lost horsepower with a couple of mods). From what little experience I have cold air intake should be safe correct? But what else would there be? Also, it would have to be compliant with California emissions laws. Sorry if this has been addressed before and feel free to just dump a thread link if you know of one. I tried the search tool but came up with bupkiss.

CAI, exhaust, shorty headers, LT headers w/o tune (depending on dealer), ported throttle body. That's all I can think of.

Awesome, that gives me more than what I was thinking. I'm thinking the tune might be out at my dealer, but I'll ask the service manager. Is most of this stuff DIY'able if you don't have a shop to work in? I know CAI's are easy enough, did it on my current car which has an odd engine compartment layout.

A tune will def void it, but Kooks headers with green cats won't and it won't throw a CEL.
All of those mods are DIY-able if you have access to jack stands or a lift. Talk to Apex Chase, he'll be able to give you all the info on this stuff. If you're looking for an exhaust, check out the Stainless Works retro chambered cat back.

You do know that even though the A6 has less HP, it typically beats the M6 in a drag race.

California is a bad place to live if you want to modify your car. There are ZERO CAI's that comply with emmission laws, so you'd have to replace the stock one before you go in for testing. No big deal since it only takes about 15min to do the swap.

Do not waste your time with shorty headers, best bet is to remove the cats but then in " The People's Republic of California" you would be in violation. If you go Lt's your in violation even if you go with the $green cats$. If you really need your warranty then leave it stock. Your biggest gains will be from the Lt's and Cold air kits combos, and more when properly tuned.

Shortys are useless if you're trying to make power.

I think Hennessey performance has a program that allows you to keep your warranty.

Yeah, but they gouge the shit out of you with their prices. Not to mention that I would trust LPE over HPE any day of the week.

if the warranty is that important you dont have a lot of choices. and if you need your warranty its best to leave it alone until you feel comfortable without it.

Like axis said the autos beat the standards in drag races.
