get the rs package and dont look back. the hid system with the rs package is equpied with a projectors whitch projects the light on the road in a nice neat pattern. it doesnt blind anyone at all becuase the light is shot at the road and not all over the place like halogen headlight houseings. not to mention the light coming from the car is smaller with a progector than a halogen headlight.

also 3000k hid fogs would have looked much nicer imo just cause its supposed to be like that allowing the light to break fog/rain/snow instead of reflecting.
good job non the less

btw what are the blub sizes. low beams ds2, and fogs h7?

I agree with everything you just said lol

as far as DOT is concerned, any modification to the factory lighting is illegal... the Camaro comes from the factory with HIDs in a projections housing, so if you could keep a 6000K - 8000K color, you shouldnt have an issue with the law.

D1S is the 8000K replacement for the factory HID and you only need to replace the bulb. the ballast is compatable with out replacement, so there is no modification to necessary.

In regards to the fog/DRL bulb, if there is no switch already in the car, running an aux. switch is the only way to turn them on when the headlights are on. It was a PIAN to run that switch... just a heads up!

What HID bulbs did you use in the DRL's of the RS? I was thinking of putting a set of bright LED's in mine but I think I'll but the HID's and put them on a independent switch.

You have to aim them way down to stop that. The problem with the 4th gen lights is that the bulb shield is open on the end. The normal bulb that goes in there has a black tip to stop light coming out. The HID bulb, however, doesn't have that tip, so tons of light come out there. That is what is blinding people.

I have HID's in my 99, and even with them aimed down I still like them better than stock,

Hey, does anyone know what the actual "color" of the factory HID's are? I want to get this kit but I want my fog light and HID color to match as close as possible.

BFxenon -- you should know the answer to this question.

The factory HID is 4300K. That would be the matching color, or you can upgrade the factory HID to 6000K or 8000K and match the fogs to that too.

Let me know if you have any other questions!
Nick

Great, more idiots gonna be driving around with their daytimes and foglights at night.

Seriously I feel like slamming on my breaks and smashing out every assholes foglight with my 2ft crescent wrench when they drive right up your ass with those things on at night. Good thing I'm not an outwardly violent person. I just drive REAL slow when that happens. Haha.

Nice pictures btw.

Oh and one other thing, how the hell did hids become allowed, I cant stand the light they put off its way to blinding at night. I can only imagine how someone with less than good eyes cope.

I think HID's put out a more comfortable light to "look" at- its bright yes but it doesn't seen to pan out as much as regular lights do. Btw is this 8000k kit WHITE....because I really don't want a blue tinge to my lights.

I was thinking the same, putting bright LED's where the DRL's are now. But I can barely find any info on the P13w bulb that's the DRL right now.

BF Xenon, what bulb are you using in the DRL's for the HID kit? Did you need to modify the stock bulb base at all??
