Since I don't want my car sitting at the dealership while they paint a new rocker panel, I suggested they take off the left side one that is damaged and use that to match the paint. The body shop manager was uncomfortable with that, why I don't know. They are ordering 8 RS tailights now ( again ) as both my car and the ABM car they are about to deliver have the wrong taillights. Frankly the whole ordeal is a PITA and typical of my experience with GM cars over the last 30 years. The dealer blames GM and GM says thay have bad dealers. When it comes time to replace this Camaro, my wife's Cadillac and my son's Aurora we'll be visiting and purchasing at other than GM dealerships.

take it easy man, they will fix it. If you are that unhappy you should not have taken it. Sounds like you screwed up.

rjt rocker panels

Long story short either Oshawa ( my opinion ) or the freight/trucking company ( dealership opinion ) damaged the driver side rocker panel on my 2SS/RS RJT Camaro. The dealer/GM solution is a new GM supplied rocker panel with the dealership painting it which I find unacceptable. I didn't buy a brand new repaired car, sorry GM, the check I handed the dealer wasn't damaged or repaired.
The other wonderful part of my 2010 Camaro "experience" is Oshawa installed 3 standard and 1 RS tailight in my 2SS/RS Camaro. GM shipped 3 replacement tailights with the RS part number and clearly marked for an RS car BUT they are standard Camaro tailights, not the darker RS tailights. So glad we outsourced jobs to Mexico where the Camaro tailights are produced. If anyone from GM is listening you have lost a 30 year GM customer. If any Camaro5 member can help, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Thanks...Ed M.
Your in luck,Ihave a set with o miles on them,$100.00 there yours you pay shipping,from Buffalo.contact me,oldfart1941 @hotmail.com

What GM (and apparently you as well) needs to realize is it's not that easy to just not take it if it's what you want and taken the time to go through the ordering process.

Situations like this is the perfect opportunity for GM to prove they are the new GM, although that won't formaly happen untill the ch. 11 is complete and the IPO of the new GM.

This is another reason to stay clear of any company going through a bankruptcy case. I know GM is still in business and they aren't going to go "out of business", and the new GM will be here for the next few years at least, but in the process of the ch. 11, too many things get tossed around, people move, leave, get fired, laid off, departments transition, it's quite honestly a mess.

Just a few of the many reasons I'm waiting untill all the dust settles before I even think about ordering my Camaro.

So having it custom matched will result in a much better finished product than GM sending some random pre-painted panels without comparing them to your car, and clearly better than having someone send you theirs, which probably won't match either. This assumes the paint shop you'll use is a quality operation, of course.

My grandmother had to get the painted spare wheel cover on her Rav4 replaced, and the new one (prepainted) isn't anywhere close to her car's color. And remember, this is Toyota, and they "never" screw up.
Well you had better tell the guys at the plant that because the rockers, gas filler door, roof rails (RS) and F&R fascias all arrive at the pant pre-painted from the supplier.

You were complaining about the color not matching correctly, correct?

The chances of you getting the correct tint, shade, paint lay from another car, IMO, is just as great as if you had the rockers painted at the shop.

You should NOT have accepted the car.<PERIOD

By accepting the car as is, you agreed to accept delivery of car, with apparent flaws, as-is.

SH(T happens. I don't know about you, but you, me, them, GM, and Oshawa is not perfect. Yes, I agree, your check was not damaged or repaired, but again, I say, you accepted the car...your responsibility.

I go to store, grab a bag of chips, open them up, eat a handful and realize they are not the sour cream and cheddar I wanted or thought I grabbed, You think the store is going to give me a refund?

Suck it up and quit bad mouthing GM. GM is your scapegoat for your obvious lack of inspection of your $38,000 Camaro.

I mostly agree with Banshee....you accepted the car! BIG mistake if you are that picky (I'm that way too!!). You obviously knew the diff at time of delivery and was notified of the damage. You're dropping $38K? Inspect it with the "white glove treatment." I hope you at very least got $ off for your trouble? I do agree that GM needs to step up to the plate when it comes to their QC. I had issue far greater than yours with my 1st TBSS which I had to trade back in 2yrs later for a '08 model that apparently had all the issues ironed out. All you can do now is ACCEPT RESPONSIBILTY for your own actions have them handle their part (with a bit of @$$ kissin and discount to make it up to you) and fix everything! With all that said --Good luck!! Hope all works out for you!!
