In the Mid Atlantic we get snow and freezing rain. Once or twice a year it can be a big one. I'll drive until the snow gets near the bottom of the car (5"?). I ordered the 19" all season tires and a 6 speed manual. I've found automatics harder to control on slick roads if you have alot of power.
If the snow is too deep everything closes anyway so I'll stay home.

Any other advice you have for winter driving i'm all ears.

I drove my 79 z28 all winter in one the worst winter's Utah had and I did ok.. I just drove carefully and had studded tires. I drove my 99 camaro in the winter's here and did ok.. I find its really watching the other yahoo out their on the road not paying attention that you have to worry about to. But since I won't be getting my ABM RS until November sooner I hope. I am about to purchase a little runabout car for my 15 year old and since he technically won't be 16 till Feb I will be driving his car in the winter lol.. I think it works good and I told him that I can make sure his car is running well lol..

Not gonna happen with mine. It gets put away before the snow starts falling and comes back out in April or May.

If you've never driven RWD in snow, you're in for a big "awakening". Do yourself a favor, buy a beater and leave the Camaro in the garage. I'm sure you can pick up a POS for about the same as a new set of snow tires and another set of wheels.

I wont be purchasing another vehicle for at least a year. So I got to drive the Camaro for at least this winter.

I live a little north of the D, and I'm not worried about driving in the snow. Like you said, just a couple of really bad days. I just hate to ruin the interior dragging in snow and salt off the shoes.

The most important winter question, how stupid would I look dragging a couple Ski-Doo's behind the SS?....I already know the answer.

I will be driving my car all winter. Of course most days will be in the 70's but at least I can brag about driving year around.

I live in Cleveland, Ohio. Lots of snow and salt on the roads in the winter. I was planning on driving my Baby in the winters until I got her last week. My mind has now changed and she will never ever see the snow and salty roads in the winter. I will never put her through a winter!!! I plan on getting beater for the winter.

Well, I'll be driving mine year round. I've just finished my 5th winter with my Chrysler 300 (RWD) and found it to be pretty decent even in the worst weather. I had Toyo Open Country snow tires on steel winter rims and I felt it was as good as any front wheel drive I had driven previously (mind you it's no comparison to my Chevy Avalanche ).
The weight is distributed pretty evenly (front to back) and that helps alot. I understand the Camaro is built like this as well and I expect it also to be more than adequate for winter travel. Just have to take your time...smooth and steady and be aware of all around you.

Drive safe
Kevin

If you can afford a beater, then I would suggest it. I've stored my RX-8 the last few years and this year my beater truly died on me so I had no choice but the drive the Mazda. I bought some winter tires and while it drove actually quite well, I did get stuck a few times and when spring came around, I had tons of rock chips on my front bumper from all that winter driving. Never doing that again.
