As previously stated I took the spluge and got the Hennnessey CAI. I recieved it today and thought I would show what comes with a $500 intake.

This does seem to be a well built and thought out CAI. I won't have it installed for a week or so, as I am taking it to the paint shop to get painted as it came scratched up, luckily I planned on getting it painted. So in the meantime here is a pic of what comes with the CAI.

I just haven't seen anything explaining this kit just trying to justifying spending the dough.

Cool...

can you measure the size of the stock MAF housing and the size of the new MAF housing?

Well after a fun weekend cleaning up the mess of parts they sent, talk about weld splatter and pits on the shield and tubing. Got everything repainted, just need to buff it out and install. Also having a engine plaque made up that will fit on it. I thought they would at least of posted what gains there are on this setup by now especially since it is in production.

I agree with everyone that this kit should be a $200-$300 kit but I am still happy with my purchase non the less.

Thanks Teccboxx for always being the pioneer - you're certainly ahead of the curve on mods.

At least Hennessey could do is give you a better nameplate - the sticker looks cheezie...

Post some pics and your impressions please.

I agree that Hennessey sticker is a piece of cow dung, as well as their craftmanship. Shouldn't of taken me more than 30 minutes to prep the parts to paint it took nearly 2 hours there was so much weld splatter and pitting on the tubing.

Since Hennessey won't post what gains they quoted me I will give it up. They "expect" 8-14 extra HP. Not as much as I was hoping for but not the worst either I guess.

I will definatly post some pictures, I was going to install it last night but we are having some wicked weather here. My truck got pounded yesterday by racketball size hail so I am very timid on when I am going to bring her out. Should be in a day or two

i truly feel for you man... hennessey made their money giving cars to road and track to test that were hugely powerfull ....and raping the customers that wanted to have the same setups.....
i wouldnt buy a 1000$ turbokit from this shady business....everybody paid his shop and track

Ok, my brother did not post about putting on the air intake today so I will. This is my opinion of the product. From a scale of 1-10 and 10 being Best.

Ease of installation: 6
Quality of kit: 7
Apperance of kit (Before having to paint it): 2
Apperance of kit after install (After painting it): 6
Performance of kit (Amount of change to car): 8
Value of kit (Price/Value): 5

Ok, overall OPINION of kit. As my brother stated before in the post, when he got the kit, right out of the box it needed cosmetic work. The heat sheild was scratched up and looked rough. The tubes were also rough and needed cleaning and paint. The K&N filter was out of the package and looked possibly reboxed. After some clean up and paint, it looked good. It came with some 3/8 hose for the breather tube and said to streatch it over the existing tube to adapt to the CAI. Well, that is impossible. You cannot streatch 3/8 hose over 1/2 inch hose. The tube on the CAI was 1/2 inch anyway so we had to but some 1/2 inch hose to extend the two hoses together. We threw the 3/8 away. The heat sheild came with a long bold and washers and a nut to put on the lower mount for the sheild to go through the existing rubber grommet that held the original filter base. IMPOSSIBLE! We used a push poppet to go into the sheild mounting hole and the rubber grommet. It held great and it just pushed in. We also had to use a spacer on the top mount of the sheild because the sheild would not contour correctly with the inner fender. An other side note, the power stearing line had to be moved inward on the lower subframe to allow the sheild to align with the lower mounting hole. This was done by moving the retaining clamp that held the hose over to an existing hole and then clipping the hose back on. easy fix but not mentioned in the intructions. The kit should have come with enough insulation ribbon to cover the whole edge of the sheild including the curved part where the tube runs through. When installing the kit, the sensor side of the tube has to be farthest away from the sheild because of the Mass Air flow meter and the way Hennessey made the hole for the sensor. The sensor has to be installed with the air hole pointed toward the air filter and the hole on the factory tube is engineered so as to install the sensor correctly by putting a small alginment hole and tabe. Well, Hennessey tube has that same hole for the alginment tab but it is backwards. So the position of the breather tube and sensor are reversed . An other thing with the sensor. On the Hennessey tube, the sensor hole had two machined holes that were machine screw tapped. Well, either put the screws in the kit or make the hole so that you can use the factory sheet metal type screws that hold the sensor in place. We, had to buy these screws also to fit the threads that Hennessey made. Also, the position of the CAI tubes are in my opinion to close to the radiator upper hose. A one peice tube with a sharper bend at the throttle bodie would not only look better but give it enough room to clear the radiator and upper hose. The extra insulation ribbon around the cut out of the sheild would hold up the tube. In my OPINION, I think this may have been the prototype kit and was sent out because of promises that were maid and presured to keep.

Look, I know Hennessey make great products for the most part and from judging by their prices, cater to the rich. Well, this kit in my OPINION is not worth the price. For the performance it puts out, it is worth spending money on but for quality or parts and workmanship, that takes away from the over 500 dolor price and puts it somewhere in the 200 dollar range.

Would I spend this kind of money on the same product................Probably not. But when dealing with performance parts, it is sometimes hit and miss.
