I think it's more than paid for itself in "Free Positive Press" during their bankrupcy. In spit of all the negative PR I saw on GM while they were going under there was a universal praise for the Camaro expressed. Even when it was off topic to the discussion. It was insane!

Hell ya. But they have to pay for 3 yrs. worth of Research and Developement. That may take some time.

Way more than 40,000. And considering 2010s will be produced likely through June next year with over 25,000 built so far.......................your salesperson just needs to do simple math. That would be 15,000 more over the next 10 months or 1,500 per month. A bad month for Corvette mind you.

Usually new models come out around July\August. When there is a re-design or a new model they introduce it as early as Feb. Which means in all likely hood that the 2011 wont be out until next July\August after the plant does the summer turnover. That means that in total from March 16th until at least next June they will have built about 8000 Camaros per month. If they dont break 100,000 this first year, they will come awfully close.

Just to put these numbers in perspective. In a good year, Honda sells more than 400,000 Accords.

The guy who sold me mine said that for the car to be considered a success GM had to sell a ton of them, especially the 6 cylinder models. He made no mention of limited production; on the contrary he made it sound like GM wanted to make as many as possible.

I heard that GM wanted to outsell the mustang, so they would have to do 100,00 a year.
I thought they projected 120,000. This first year with their problems, who knows how many?
