Early 2012 build here, same problem. Started showing up last fall. 7,800 mi on car.

I think I'll mention it when I go into Tom Henry for my yearly inspection when the winter breaks, but now it seems like there might not be much done about it.

Have had my car since 1 mile and this never happened before until today
Bro were you in my car today. I was driving home this morning and I swear to god was hearing the same thing like a whizzing sound. I was actually driving and putting my head down and around by the radio and vents to see where I hear that sound stronger at. I was like WTF

This has been reported frequently.

It may be that the cure is worse than the disease, due to the amount of disassembly needed to fix, with no guarantee that the new fan will be better. FWIW, my fan quieted down eventually (after 3 years!).

My new Camaro with 3k miles on it has a whistle sound when the thermostat is set to cold. When I move it 3 notches to hot, the whistle goes away. It is at the shop now, and they have no idea what is causing it. Also they have my car torn apart trying to find a rattle coming from the passenger a pillar area.

I think the chirpping noise & the whisle are two different problems. The chirp most likely is coming from bearing / bushing in the motor. The whisle is normally caused by air traveling through small gaps around directional doors in the heater case. Most of the time it is the foam around the door out of place or missing.

Would having a restricted cabin air filter contribute to these issues. Just saying about the whistle sound.

Last time I had my FAA physical, the hearing specialist said I had the best hearing she tested in a long time. This chirping fan noise drives me crazy, I just turn the radio louder.

I have the same issue in my 2011. I have had the dealer look at it a couple of times. The 1st time they replaced the fan, the the noise came back in about 2,000 miles. The second time I was told there was no noise, so nothing they could do. It drives me crazy!!!
