It has a 5yr 100k mile warranty, run the piss out of it and let it break. Then gm can pay for a new engine.

UPDATE

Our car now has 2,100 miles on it and i have had the oil/filter changed as GM wanted. The tapping has gotten worse. This is on the left bank only.
I went by our service dept. today and they scheduled me for the 31st for the tech to check it out.
This has been going on as long as we have owned the car and definitely not happy about it.
Hopefully now something will be done.

So i took the car in on the 31st for the appointment. Go into the waiting room and after 1.5 hours Service Adviser Terry comes to get me. Terry is a great guy and always very helpful. I go outside where the techs have a '15 SS running next to my car and a guy with a mechanics stethoscope is listening to that car and then our car all the while listening to the right side? of the engine. He says "i don't hear anything out of the ordinary". I told him "you're listening to the wrong side, it's on the left bank". He says "i don't hear anything but i'm hard of hearing anyway".
Another guy says "it's the 2,000 p.s.i. fuel pressure you're hearing".Oooook.
Another tech says "we could tear down your engine and replace things but it might end up worse off than it is now".
On guy said "i doubt GM will give you a new motor". Huh?
I was told by one person "to take it out and run the crap out of it".
I asked them about the AFM lifters. They told me when they go bad the car starts missing and losing power. I thought defective AFM lifters start ticking?
At this point i'm irritated. I told them i was not happy and i should not have to put up with this very noticeable Ticking on a $37,000 car. Some interior panels have been replaced already due to flaws and warped plastic pieces.
I then reminded them of the case number on the car for this Ticking. The tech that wrote it up originally told me he can hear what i'm talking about. He told me to bring it back Mon. as a GM rep will be there.
And so it continues...

Still Ticking...

I took our Camaro SS in for appt. with the GM rep. close to a month ago. After about an hour Terry(service adviser) came to get me to meet the lady(GM rep.) She listened to the engine and told me she can hear the ticking on the left side. I said i was not happy with this and asked how we might proceed. She told me i would receive a call in a week or so. By 11-17-14 i had received no calls so i talked to Terry and he said he would call the GM rep. By 11-21-14 i had still not received any calls so i got in touch with Terry and he told me he would call her again. As of today i have still not received any call from GM. I am tired of the ticking noise and losing patience with GM and their customer service.

klaatu barada nikto,

My apologies that you are still in the process of getting this ticking sound resolved. I understand and realize your displeasure with this situation. From your post, it sounds as though you may already have a GM case open. If so, please feel free to message me your case number so I can investigate and possibly notify your current agent of what you're seeking. I look forward to hearing back from you, at your earliest convenience.

Kindly,

William R.

Thanks William,

Yes there is a case number for this issue. It was opened about the last of February. We have driven the car and had oil and filter changed as GM recommended but the ticking/tapping is worse. Dealership Service adviser Terry has been very helpful but GM seems to be dragging its feet. It has been a month since i met with GM rep and have heard nothing. I will pm you the case number.

EDIT: This guy "William R." was completely useless and did Nothing to help us. All talk NO ACTION - USELESS

Wow, seriously! And the dealership says they can't hear anything wrong with it? I can hear it clear as day on my phone in a restaurant

Service advisers Terry and Jeff hear it. They have been very good trying to help.
A couple guys there said it was "normal" or "it's the high fuel rail pressure that is ticking".

I have had a case number on it since Feb.
Hoping to get something done soon, the ticking and tapping is irritating and with me being a car guy, i don't like it and it is now louder. This noise has put a damper on our new car experience and not happy about it.

Bob

Not a thing.
Bought a number of new GM vehicles over the years and any warranty issues were taken care of quickly.
Not happy with the new GM.

UPDATE

The local GM rep never called me about this issue, been 6 weeks. Her words meant nothing. Frustration and aggravation are an understatement. Beginning to wonder if "warranty" is worth the paper it's written on.

I had to escalate the case to GM and received a case number. The GM agent seems to be genuinely concerned to help and is working on this case.
I have become disenchanted with the car and hopeful for resolution to this sorry situation.
