I think it depends on where you are. I don't get as quite much as my z06 did but I almost hated that fact in my Z06. I don't want to explain to jay and silent bob in front of every convience store how I can have a car like that. it was fun when I was laid off though. "what do you do for a living" ohh I am unemployed ha ha

my own car got my attentions last night ha ha. I was going to meet my wife (I thought she was in our dart) then this zl1 whips out in front of me at a turn and I am thinking ohh finally another one hear in town. then I recocognized the cockblcocker in the front seat haha and relized I am a dumbass.

I find most people dont' really know what it is exactly they kind of think it is modified SS. or that special camaro "with the corvette engine" ha ha.

Most of the people I come across that aren't car guys think I've customized it. That's true. But I just explain it came like that and they are usually more blown away.

I hear you on the black thing. If someone really wanted attention I'd say get white, maybe yellow, those two tend to pop more against the ZL1 parts.

I get a lot of attention while cruising around Vegas and LA in my ZL1, but not all of it is positive. I know my ZL1 is loud and looks intimidating, but I'm a pretty chill driver. It seems as if envy from other car enthusiasts brings out the worst driving behavior at times. I've been involved with so many unprovoked road-rage incidents since I bought my ZL1.

Sometimes, it's a punk kid in a primered Civic who wants to cut me off in traffic or a guy in a V6 Mustang who wants to unsafely tail-gate me on the freeway. I'll park my ZL1 straddled between two spaces almost 100 yards away from the entrance of a store in the middle of nowhere and then find an old 80's model bucket parked within one foot of me. It's done intentionally and it pisses me off.

While driving my daughters to school one early fall morning, I was approached by another father who thought the sound of my motor scared his daughter. He started speaking to me before I fully climbed out of my ZL1 with my daughters. I guess he was expecting to punk out a young kid. I'm a muscular 37 year-old grown man (also a Police Sergeant who's always armed and trains in MMA). His approach quickly changed when I looked him square in the eyes and told him to get away from me, my daughters, and my ZL1.

However, the compliments and wows do overshadow the negativity. I get approached and asked questions about my ZL1 when I pump gas or when I'm getting it detailed. It's funny when a chick drools all over my ZL1 while her insecure/jealous boyfriend uncomfortably looks on. The thumbs-ups and the head nods from fellow Camaro drivers and Mustang drivers who pay their respects, makes you forget about all the dicks out there.

((( My two cents. )))

here in Kansas city, i just done see many ZL1s. i saw a 1LE in January at a best buy, loud car. then 2 nites ago, a 2011 SS black vert, i spoke to the owner a few minutes in parking lot of health club. i think most camaro owners will just talk to anyone who drives a newer one, and especially the ZL1. those are expensive cars and limited people here who can afford them, so i think they will get noticed alot.

Well there you go, just pulled into the drive through at the BBQ place and one of the guys working there was out back smoking. He asked if I had a kit on it, I assumed body kit. I unfortunately didn't have time to explain because right then the girl came over the speaker ready for my order.

So yeah, even dirty, a night anyway, it's an attention grabber.

....I got my car in April of '12. During the time thereafter I received much gawking and obvious visual reaction from bystanders, and drivers of other cars. It was funny, mostly welcomed, and at times concerning because of the idiot magnet factor effect.

I find the huge amount of attention drawn to my car to be a complete paradox. First off, in southern Oklahoma we kind of are a little red neck in nature... and without a doubt the Camaro is the most common car on the road in my area period. I can't drive 3 blocks in town during a busy time of the day without driving by another Camaro. I guess because everyone around here knows about the Camaro, they know about the ZL1 legend...lol. I have nearly caused a wreck with people staring at my car and not watching the road. I was taking pictures of mods in my driveway and 2 young guys stopped and asked for a ride...lol. People are constantly trying to get me to show them what it will do, I usually oblige them for a short distance. I have about 35000 population in my town and we have 3 ZL1's, I have only seen one of the other cars. When I take mine out it will draw crowds and they have no idea what I have under the hood.... Before I bought it, I thought it would blend in with all of the other Camaros but that is definitely not the case in my town.

It's funny when I pull up to a set of stop lights I see people rolling their windows down so they can listen to my car.

I think a lot of it will depend what part of the country you live in. Where i live tons of people will rubberneck to check out a ZL1 driving by.

I agree with StealthZL1. Lots of unprovoked road rage. I've gotten flipped off by a couple of girls in a SUV merely for passing them in the right lane when they were going 35 in a 45. Every high testosterone guy in his SUV seems to want to race me too. It doesn't bother me one bit to be the furthest car from the entrance in any store I go to. My two legs work perfectly fine and I have problem walking.

My daughter, on the other hand, doesn't really like the attention the ZL1 brings and this is coming from an 11 year old that can't pass by a mirror without looking at herself. lol

There is obviously positive reactions as well. My most memorable one is when I was setting at a red light and I was next to an elderly couple who were looking my car up and down. Both of them were smiling ear to ear and then the woman gives me a bid thumbs up. At that moment, I couldn't have been any more proud of owning a ZL1.

This is my experience as well. I had people trying to slyly take pics and would get questions all of the time. I still get these reactions some times, but no nearly much as I did 2 years ago.

I actually had this happen again just yesterday!

For the most part, I get nice comments or questions about the car. I don't typically get anyone trying to race me, but my wife has when she drove the car (she doesn't drive it anymore). The windows are tinted, so it's not like they could tell who was driving, so I guess it just depends on the other guy. I have only seen 3 other ZL1's on the roads here in St. Louis since I've had mine, but I do think that most people just think it's another Camaro.
