Well, we know he's off the mark in regards to design right off the bat. However, the author does have a point in regards to the timing of the production cars launch, but I don't think it's that big an issue; GM's not selling a truck, it's a passenger car that will have better gas mileage regardless of engine choice next to any overweight people/utility hauler. And for the next generation the Camaro will definitely get smaller, so any potential concerns for the future of the Camaro as well as it's success in the market place based off of fuel consumption can be put to rest.

Okay, muscle cars of the late '60s and early '70s are highly collectible, but are well-preserved models really selling for "millions of dollars"? I mean, I've heard of near-mint vehicles of that sort selling for like $100K, but not "millions."

Really good cars will sell for hundreds. They need to be numbers matching, no miles, perfect condition, and rare. Some will sell for millions, but only a select few. Carol Shelbys Cobra sold for 5.5 mil. That is about the most extreme example, you won't see a Z28 be worth nearly as much as that car.

What is the delay this beat writer is referring to? We have always been told to expect the car in showrooms during the first quarter 2009.

Regarding the Dick Guldstrand quote - I'd like to see his program get a vehicle of this magnatude on a shared platform get it to market quicker

This reminds me of when a Swedish "newspaper" Expressen's American car corrospondant did a test drive of the concept in Miami. I found that article the other day and remember reading it before I got really into this car and thinking it was hot but to pricey. First of let me say that this whole article has just got loads of innacurate info, like for example that it was to have an LS2 just because the concept does. But anyway the price they set to 560 000 SEK. Adjusted with todays dollar value that's about 94k USD. Adjusted more properly since the dollar is low it's about 56k. That's Corvette territory even here.

So if anyone from Expressen reads this: leave the serious car reporting to car magazines, you're just making yourself look like idiots. Oh and also if you haven't figured it out, you were about 250 000 SEK to high with that price.

if you get the SPEED channel watch Barret Jackson's car auction. you normally only see the best of the best cars on there. Hardly any exotics just American classics. The announcers really know what the hell they're talking about too. we're past that time of the year, but it comes on in January and the last one was just this weekend...

Hmmm...I can't help but think this article is a joke. Who misspells "starring" at the L.A. Times?? Seems a little noobish for an editor who gets paid to write.

Secondly, I don't understand how they are still comparing the Camaro to any other "muscle cars" released by Ford or Dodge... What's a Mustang?

Anyway, this article is just filler for Los Angeles Times; as long as they stir a few people they are happy. Let's just wait and see what the Detroit Times has to say.
I have to disagree.. There is a lot of truth in this article. I've been waiting for this Camaro to come out for three years and my current car isn't getting any younger. Last month I had to spend a small fortune to keep the car running for another year at least while I wait. I went to the autoshow here in South Florida and saw both the Challenger and Bumblebee Camaro there. As much as I want to wait for the Camaro, it might come out too late and I may order a Challenger instead. I'm betting there are lots of people in my shoe's who GM may lose as potential customers for taking this long to release the car. I was able to sit inside the Challenger at the auto-show and it is very comfortable. The back seat is huge and reminds me of my old Mercury Grand-Marqui in comfort and space. I've had a 98 Mustang now for quite sometime and felt the new camaro was the right choice for a replacement vehicle. However This April I may find myself pre-ordering a Challenger RT with a 5.7 Hemi with 370 horsepower which should be priced below $30,000. I'm quite certain the V8 Camaro will be faster at 400HP with the weight being a lot less. However I can't afford the SRT8 which is priced over $40,000. I still have to go to the the dealer and drive one of these things before I make my decision so all is not lost on the Camaro front. If more picture's come out and I get to see the final product of the Camaro in a showroom at the very least real soon, then I may have to wait and push my Mustang to survive a bit longer taking the plunge... Perhaps I get the Challenger and then when the Camaro comes out, my wife sells her Pontiac G6 for one of them. Who knows... In either case, this was a good article above and it has some very valid points. If the Camaro could have been released at the same time as the Transformers movie, it would have been a whole lot better for GM in many ways..

The Dodge Challenger R/T features the new-generation 5.7-liter HEMI® V-8 engine with a five-speed automatic transmission that produces an estimated 370 horsepower (276 kW) and 398 lb.-ft. of torque (540 Nm). For 2009, the HEMI engine is upgraded to get an estimated five percent improvement in fuel economy as well as an increase of 30 horsepower (9 percent) and 8 lb.-ft. improved torque (2 percent) over a greater range of engine speeds. The automatic transmission features fuel-saving multi-displacement (MDS) technology which increases fuel economy by as much as 20 percent depending on driving conditions without sacrificing vehicle performance. The Dodge Challenger R/T also offers a precision-shift six-speed manual transmission - the first for a new-generation HEMI-powered car - that produces 375 horsepower (280 kW) and 404 lb.-ft. of torque (548 N•m) when running on premium fuel. The Dodge Challenger R/T can go from zero to 60 mph in less than six seconds.

If nothing else it does show that chronicling every step of the manufacturing process does kill the buzz a bit. Three year turn around on a new vehicle is not bad it just seems like 5 years.
