because people are sheep and the sheep have been told that MPG and bland Camry type styling is the only way you can achieve good MPG.

You're choosing to not see it. The 14 owners give as good as they get.

Having always been an import guy until now, I have to say the Camaro 5th gen is just fantastic. It's the first modern day muscle car that really got my attention. The looks are amazing, and the fact that a 2 ton car can move as well as it does really says a lot about how far the engineering has really come.
In 6 years of owning my EVO IX I had maybe 2 people ever walk up and say "cool car". I can't drive my 1LE without getting stopped by people every single time. It's just that good looking. Haters gonna hate. Everyone has preferences. I wouldn't buy a Mustang for example, but as an enthusiast I can respect it. People who vent their bias upon someone for owning xyz car usually has some sort of insecurity or jealousy issue. |

Having never owned a Camaro, I can't comment specifically on the Camaro, but I have received nothing but positives from people about my car choice. Except for those in the Import and Prius crowds who scold me on ruining the planet. Oh, and ex-wives. If there was no Mustang, I would drive a Camaro, if no Camaro a Challenger. If none of these were available, I would be in jail for assaulting the leaders of the Big 3.

Its not really the Camaro they hate. You see... the Camaro is nothing more but a reflection...a reflection of themselves. The Camaro evokes deep down emotion, emotion deep in ones soul. When one looks at the Camaro and sees hate they are in essence looking at themselves, the hate within themselves deep in their own souls. They can't stand looking at the camaro because they can't stand looking at themselves. So don't take offense to these people just look at them and know that these people are SICK!... and are in desperate need of help.

I'm pretty new to the Camaro game, 2009-2013 owning a BMW, before that an Infiniti G35 Coupe, before that Evo VIII, before that a Sentra SE-R Spec V, a Honda Civic, and a C5 Corvette. Since the intro of the 5th Generation Camaro, all I could base my opinion on was magazine road tests. So to me, the Camaro, Mustang and Challenger were all pretty much equal with each having their own shortcomings or styling glitches. Big on the outside, small on the inside with engines that pretty much over power their suspensions - unsophisticated unrefined muscle cars.
What's funny is, all of a sudden, THAT'S WHAT I WANTED! Give me outrageous styling, tiny chopped windows, a rowdy exhaust note, stick shift and a gas guzzling V8! The Camaro is a rolling exclaimation point (!). I harbor no ill will against Mustangs, they sound cool as hell and have a terrific heritage - they just had to catch up to the 21st century. People like what they like, they'll come around - I did |

Update: I drove my new Camaro to work yesterday and as I was slowing creeping through the parking lot towards the exit, I encountered all 15 employees who had worked that shift walking out to their cars. As I approached, they all stopped, looked, listened, nodded in approval and some gave thumbs up! I felt pretty good, I work at a police department, it was a bunch of COPS . Nice!
