Hmmm...that is surprising, but I would trust BTR and what they recommend.

Good luck with your choice and install and post a video and review after!

Looks like the decision is made. I have a Passat DD so this is strictly my fun/I need an interesting commute car.

I think it would make a nice road course cam. It makes great power down low. It has non-aggressive lobes from what I have read. The lift is right where you would see about any cam on the intake and way lower on the exhaust. Mine seems to have great low-end grunt and probably still hits in the 475+ peak HP range with no head work.

I'd say go for it and tell us how you like it. I bet you'll be happy.

I have this cam with ported heads, I am using a zl1diff so that is eating power. Mine made 472/439. It runs great and doesn't drive too bad. As stated above there is some bucking, mostly around 1500 to 1800 when you are barely on the gas. It has tons of low end torque (400tq @3700). It does however take a nice clutch slip to get moving smoothly, aside from that I love it and I'm sure you will too

+1 on all that. Well worth the limited sacrifice you have to make. Minor re-learning is all it is. That cam sounds mean as hell too. I never get tired of it. Do you have a dyno graph of your car ttshovel? I haven't seen one on these cams. I'm curious to see the curves.

I will take a pic of it when I get home from work, they stopped the pulls at like 6500 and it was still making power, I wished they would have revved it higher

I wished they would have revved it higher than 6400, it looks like it was still climbing

Thanks for posting that. That looks pretty much just like it feels. I cross the line at about 6800 RPM in mine. Good to know I'm not robbing myself of much by staying in 3rd that long.

Brian Tooley is the man, I've installed quite a few of the BTR grinds over the years, always pleasure speaking with him.

Yep. Between him and Martin Smallwood, there is no mystery when it comes to valvetrain setup. Excellent resources for car people.

Here is a good before and after dyno sheet from the BTR Stage 4 cam. We installed Stainless Power 1-7/8" Headers w/cats, a Roto-Fab, LLC intake, VMAX Throttle Body and a JDP Tune.

This car runs and sounds awesome, and has great drivability for such an aggressive cam.

Please feel free to call, PM or email us anytime with questions.

Best regards,

Tyler
