You have to have the grove to let air into the back of the bladder, if no grove air can not get to the top of the badder to let it go down to displace fluid as the linings wear.

You NEED that BLADDER, do not change cap unless it has a bladder and do not remove the air gap grove! All that's is wrong is the cap is loose.

Just make one from milk carton or any other thin plastic.

I will be doing this as soon as I finish my milk in the fridge! I just noticed leakage for the first time recently.

It is a great idea, I tried this on my 2013 ZL1 by using a rubber gasket under the rubber bladder, which was then a snug fit, however it still leaked at the track. So I went to the Dealer and asked for the newly "updated" reservoir, which I installed myself. There is a difference in the two reservoirs - they added a plastic baffle - right at the opening which keeps the fluid from coming back up through the cap - which still has a loose fit. Once I installed this new design it hasn't leaked a drop of fluid. This worked for me. Thanks guys.

I have the baffle on my Z28 and it leaked until I added the gasket. With a extra gasket the tank should never leak, with or with out baffle. It is just physics, the cap should be air tight with the cap on tight, or you have a hole in the reservoir.

Mine was leaking, After the dealer changed the reservoir not one drop has leaked out. Go in to your dealer have them change out the reservoir. If your reservoir leaks GM has a TSB out to service reservoir with a new one. For a 60,000 dollar car we should not have to mod the reservoir with washers. Its a easy fix, Took about 1/2 to change reservoir. Mine was leaking around the seams and the cap. I use dot 4 super blue brake fluid and the brakes feel great. recommend DOT 4 Super blue.

Everyone thinks it leaks at the seams, it does not. The fluid just runs down and collects at the seams. My Z28 has the newest reservoir and it leaked a bit. So just made the washer for the Z28 and ZL1 stopped the leak. You could get lucky and get a tank that keeps the cap tight, but even some new tanks leak. As long as the cap is tight it will not leak. Yes I agree a $60 car should not have to do the mod, but in the time it takes to take my car to the dealer, wait let them look and then order a tank, it's just easier to use the washer and less time. I have a new reservoir on the Z28, changing the tank will not always work, some do.

Mine actually was leaking at the seam . top would stay dry but the side would be wet even when not driven. The new tank has not leaked a drop since being installed.

For the leaking cap I went to Advance auto parts and found a HELP! Pt# 42072 Master Cylinder Gasket for the cap. It is thicker than the OEM Gasket on the cap. Perfect fit and seal.
