so spending 50$ on a K&N Filter? or would it be better to buy an intake?
i'm not worried about extra hp or expecting a huge change in mileage, i just want to put the best stuff for my car into my car, if that makes sense. Anything that will help it last a long time.

I just put a K&N filter in today. Hard to say whether there was any difference, I felt that there was a slight gain in accel. smoothness but then again that was probably in my head since I wanted there to be a difference. The reason I bought it was that I've decided to do exhaust first, while waiting for the GMPP CAI to come out and be evaluated, and also because I found an exhaust I like now, while there still aren't many CAIs out that I'm thrilled with. The G5CR is not getting good reviews (plus it's made by Modular MUSTANG), I don't care to spend $500 for the Hennessey name, the Airaid is really the only feasable option I've come across at this point and I'd like more options. So I put in the filter in the meantime. Exhaust will go on in a couple weeks, CAI when I can afford it/when the market responds to the demand for V6 CAIs.

I stuck a K&N the other day... no real noticeable difference.... I haven't been able to get to the track yet...

Now, I did notice that the K&N seemed pretty heavily oiled... After I few days I opened the air box up and check every thing over... there was no oil on any thing... so all this fear of the oil coating your MAF sensor... seems a little far fetched.. LOL! Of course you can always stop at the auto parts store and pick of a can of MAF sensor cleaner if you are really paranoid...

I've had my K&N Air Filter installed for over a month and about 750 miles of use. I noticed right away a better sounding idle and slight acceleration improvement. So far I'm satisfied with it.

I am also considering the Vararam induction unit though in no hurry to add it.

I had a K&N filter in my '97 C1500 for about 130k miles. I never really noticed much of a difference in performance or gas mileage when I installed it in place of the stock paper filter. I pulled it out about 5k miles before I sold the truck and switched back to a paper filter. I couldn't even tell a difference in performance or MPG after doing that. About all the K&N was worth to me was not having to buy 10 paper filters over the years vs. 2 K&N cleaner/oiler kits.

Sorry to go off-topic here but for you guys talkin about Vararam, do they have a system for the Camaro V6 yet? I looked on their site, saw the GTO/Holden and I think the G8 but didn't see anything for Camaro.

I just added the K&N filter because of the overall cost factor per year. Any updates on personal opinions regarding the HP/MPG of this filter?
