I think I would top out around 37k for the top model, so I too am hoping that pricing is a little over exaggerated. It seems hard to compare a production car's (SS) pricing against a nonproduction car (GT 500)

i don't understand that, if a z28 would be 27,000, then what the hell is in the SS top dog a 572 crate...d@mn....

For that to sell the ss better have better than a supercharger over the Z28, otherwise its not gonna sell...

I think it will. The Z-...I mean, the "Top Dog" is going to compete with the GT500. That comes in at a hefty 42somethin'. So 45k for an insanely better car...it'll sell.

I thought everything looked great utill the said $45K+ for the SS...Althought i could afford it...thats a bit high...unless it an absolute best of a car!

Otherwise I think that's a mis-print!!!!

You have to look at total profit (volume x profit margin). I doubt GM can move high volumes of pony cars at $45k a pop. This will especially be true when there are options (Mustang GT500, Camaro SS, high-powered Dodge models to respond). Right now Ford has the high-end pony car market to themselves, but it will be crowded real soon.

If the Z-28 has a base price of $27k, then I'm figuring on a base price of $33k for the SS. A loaded SS should come in under $40k.... at least I hope.

Keep in mind things like pricing are always highly speculative. That's going to be one of the final things nailed down for this car so that's just the author's own guesstimation at this point. Even the model lineup is his own guess.

Agreed TRAN! But he seemed to be "spot on" the entire artical (up to that point) Just makes you wounder if he's been leaked any inside info!!!!
