Steve,
I told you you would have a lot of interest here. Glad you made it. Thanks for sharing your exprences with the 5th gen. Folks, Steve has been building boxes for years, and personally drives a 5th gen! This is a great combination to get some realy good R&D into some box designs.
FYI, officially started my side box design today. There is even more room once we pull out the premolded panels, so I’m excited , and confident we can come up with the space to do a ported 10 ince quite nicly

Awesome. So you do you still have the vette or give it up for the 2010?

installed it for a friend

we were surprised how much base that box made. hes kinda glad we did not go with the duel 10" box, it would have been way too much.

The small hatch cars have such an advantage over trunk cars. The vette especially, since it is really tight and has metal panels buzzing. It gets really loud and sounds great. In a 5th gen, we are going to have to actually oversize our bass a little compared to what we're used to. I have used one 12 in a mediume size box and it is just barely enough. Fine for listening, but not something you can turn up and impress passers by. I'm thinking a single 10 in this car may not suit a lot of guys. Two 12s is about perfect though (for me at least). Much more than that and all you're gonna hear is rattles.

is there any way to port a sub into the cabin? I would like some bass but I don't want to have it rattle my trunk.

I'd be interested if you turned that enclosure around. While its cool seeing your subs when you open your trunk, I dunno about you guys, but I listen to my music in the cabin. not standing outside the trunk. With my Grand PRix, turning the subs toward the cabin really helped the sound quality, and eliminated a lot of the little trunk rattle there was. I ahve two Alpine type R's hooked up to a 1000 watt amp, and I jsut feel like the music should be pointed at you, and not the car behind you. Just my .02, but if you guys came up with side enclosures or one pointing into the cabin, you'd have my business

Hey ********, I remember you from fbodyaudio.com! I wish DJ would get those forums up again now hah. My T-Top box was still kicking in my 99 TA when i sold it recently. I recently got an 08 TL Type S but now every time I see a new Camaro it makes me regret it. I am seriously considering trading it and getting a new camaro now. It's nice to know you are still making quality sub boxes for when the time comes.

If you want your subs to face the front, that is cool with me. We will drill the holes on the front instead. Not a problem. However you want it, we'll do it. But from all my experiments, the bass sounds better and louder and deeper in a trunk car if the subs face the rear instead of forward. I've already tested this in my car and this why we did it the way we did it.

Is the 'black box' a high(speaker) to low(RCA) signal converter to the MB amp? If so, how much?

Simply remove the rear speakers..if you have a good front stage, you won't need the rear fills..

Is the Line Out Conerter really needed for the Boston Acoustics system? From your web site it looks like you are hooking into the low level signal going into the factory amp. Why not just connect RCA cable directly to that signal?

I'm with these guys. Have you built a side box for the Camaro yet? I would like something similar to TAG's car. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31768
