It's not that I'm ashamed that it's a GM car. I'm just trying to do small things to make my car "unique" without going to extremes. I've also ordered the red SS badges from GM to place underneath the CAMARO on both sides.

Is there anything "new" that is especially good for black cars???

I've been using Zaino for years. I find it to be very easy to apply and take off plus no powdery residue.

They draw too much attention to themselves in a weird spot on the car, IMO, which detracts from the otherwise beautiful lines. If it were an Aveo or a Saturn or something, I'd probably not give a crap and leave 'em on.

Looks like I won't have to worry about it now though, and I won't have to feel guilty for removing something that would show it was one of the first 5th gens.

Is the name of the new company after bankruptcy actually "General Motors" or something else. I believe that it does have a different name.

Wasn't there yet another name during the Bankruptcy?

Vehicle Acquisition Holdings, LLC ("New GM") and another name,

The new company plans to issue an initial public offering (IPO) of stock in 2010.[14] The remaining pre-petition creditors claims are paid from assets of the" Motors Liquidation Company", the new name of the former General Motors Corporation.

That's the Old GM. New GM is General Motors Company.

Removing the GM badges will not make you unique, lots of people are doing it. Also putting the SS emblems on is not unique. Try to come up with something original. Make it yours first.

Hair dryer and then dental floss. Then use bug and tar remover to get the goop off. That's how I do it.

I took mine to a buddy that worked at GM, laid off now, and he just yanked em off lol carefully! I didn't even need googone. I took them off the first day I had it. I am a proud GM car owner but honestly they looked out of place there. I kept them, but they won't go back on it.

I use Meguiars NXT, does not leave any residue on stripes

and those GM badges are affectionately called 'chicklets'

DETROIT (AP) - General Motors Co. will begin removing its "Mark of Excellence" logo from vehicles as the company places greater emphasis on its individual brands.
GM spokesman Terry Rhadigan said Tuesday the company would phase out the placement of the GM logo on its cars and trucks, leaving just the GMC, Chevrolet, Cadillac or Buick logos on the vehicles.

"We really want to elevate the prominence of our four core brands," he said. "It's really going to be an intense focus."

GM is discontinuing or selling its other four brands, Hummer, Saab, Pontiac and Saturn.

The final decision to remove the silver square logo was made earlier this month, although executives had mentioned the possibility of such a move months ago. The company found that consumers had a greater affinity for GM's individual brands than the corporate name.

"What we're seeing is the GM brand gets dinged big time in terms of considering a GM vehicle," said Mike DiGiovanni, GM's executive director of global market and industry analysis, during a monthly sales conference call in April. "But when you look at Chevrolet, Cadillac and our other brands, they haven't changed."

Rhadigan said removing the logo—which is generally placed on the lower section of the door panel—from some models will be more difficult than on others. On vehicles where a specific indentation is made in the sheet metal for the logo, phasing it out will take longer. On models such as the Camero or Equinox, removal is easier, and will begin immediately, Rhadigan said.

Taking the logos off the vehicle will save GM a "nominal" amount of money, Rhadigan said.
