Paint your ground effects (GFX) at your OWN risk! Will void its warranty.

The Mfr of the GFX states that if you paint them, you void the warranty. Just an FYI...

IMO unpainted makes them look like an after thought.

Even saw this on a SEMA car. It looks lame, unfinished, and cheap.

carbon fiber isn't flat/matte at all. and it's definitely not trashy looking. i love the look of the carbon fiber weave, and if you get quality stuff, it shines well. and btw people don't usually paint a CF hood. thats not nice of you to say it looks like he 'ran out of paint'. it looks like he had a few EXTRA hundred bucks and decided to get a more resistant, lighter hood, that accented the car in a way HE liked. who cares about your opinion, it's not even accurate.

i guess you can be happy with your car knowing that it's up to EVERYONE ELSE'S standards.

Well now, if you are doing it for functionality (lighter, etc) ok, it makes perfect sense, but I don't see how it adds any visual appeal at all. Opinions aren't meant to be accurate, only mean something to me and allow other people to think about the subject matter in a potentially different way. If it isn't your way, than that is all that matters. I haven't seen it on Camaros so much but Honda Civics by the ton! Looks faded and trashy.

IMO they should come from the factory body-colored so there is no extra cost or issues with warranty.

IMO I think they look like crap without paint. It looks like one of those ricers that can't afford to paint them.
My guess is that since they don't install them at the factory, there is less of a chance that they will get screwed up during shipping with scratches and dings if they're not painted.
I warranty issue is a joke. My dealer told me to bring them back painted and they would do the install. They're installing them anyway, so why does it matter if it's painted. Someone sold you guys a line of B.S. if your afraid of loosing your warranty.

Why would you want your car to look like every other Camaro out there? You obviously didn't like the "standard" look of the stripes and went out and got your stripes painted on. Not everyone likes the look of the painted GFX, I'm one of them, Especially on IOM. I like the contrast. The GFX are the same color as the grill, so does it look like GM ran out of money for not painting the grill to match the rest of the car?

As for the CF hood, its not for everyone. It's either a love it or hate it option. I like the way it shines in the sun. If someone goes with poor quality CF or doesn't know how to protect it and keep it up, it will look "cheap and trashy", if you take care of it looks pretty damn good in the bright California sun. If it was purely something that belongs on Civics and other ricers, why would GM put it on its most expensive car? The ZR1 has Carbon fiber EVERYWHERE. It has a purpose and a unique look.

Some people like to step away from the norm and make their car their own. If they did the same thing that everyone else is doing, it really isn't making their car different is it?

I understand what you are saying man. I have no problems with the ground effects being painted or not, it is just I never understood why I see so many Civics and ricers with faded, matte or unpainted hoods (and I seriously doubt they were carbon fiber). I like carbon fiber. Had it in my 4th gen on my interior if you wanted to check out my garage here online. Loved it, but since I don't know anybody with a carbon fiber hood, the jury is still out and I am unqualified to give any opinion on it as it wouldn't be fair. Main problem was with my failure to understand why ricers did this. On silver or RJT Camaros, the unpainted look is definitely awesome. I won't deny that.
