Yes. Look at the vids in my thread. Can't deny the difference. Now if your car is already running right then it won't make a difference at all.

i know we are talking about the L99, not the V6, but some cars recommend premium for high performance, and other require it for the enigine to run right.
as far as them modding the computers at the factory i dont think they will. if you follow the owners manual, you will not have a problem with the cars performance.

i would not be happy if i was spending that much money for a car, and the dealer was too cheap to fill it with premium

Maybe they upgraded the programing when they were correcting the regular unleaded performance problem? Can anyone on the inside confirm my theory?
Car could of been tuned up and had a octane boost. The Auto has the potential to really perform if you know what you are doing and get the proper work done on the car.

Those two cars that ran 12's claim to be bone stock. Can someone from the team confirm that the program was upgraded?

Most runs were in summer heat, the cars run in the 12's had cool air. That is basically why, same goes for the difference between the fast and slow LS3 cars. Take the fastest LS# and L99 car to my track in 90* heat and they'll run mid 13's all day. I personally don't think break-in plays much of a role in modern cars, that was something that used to be important but not really for the past 10+

The difference is the cooler weather.

And the L99 is fast. Lots of guys have been saying that for months. I got my L99 in early June and my car has always been real fast. I know several other guys with early builds and their cars are real fast (low 13s in hot humid air).

As mentioned
Some of the fastest L99 1/4 mile times have come from early builds. The recent 12.9 by an L99 was due to 68 degree air and excellent driving. He pulled a 1.93 sec 60' time (that's just excellent driving and how you pull a high 12 sec run in a stock L99).

This winter high 12s and very low 13s will be common out of recent and early builds (by guys that know how to drive at the faster tracks).

The exceptions to the fast times will be coming from the guys that for whatever reason are stuck in "low octane mode."

Some guys just get confused about the gasoline aspect. I'll try to explain what happens...

An L99 Auto Camaro will RUN ALL DAY LONG ON SHIT GAS, it just won't make 400hp like you want it to. If you want all of the power that you paid for, run premium at all times, this IS NOT DEBATEABLE! It's a freakin' no brainer. A lower octane rating (ie 87) means that the gasoline has a lower flash point than premium gas such as 93. A flash point is a pressure at which it will combust without a spark (in a nutshell). If you run a high-compression engine with junk gas, the gasoline can ignite during the compression stroke and the flamefront from that will collide with the flamefront generated by the spark plug. This makes an audible "knock" noise and is usually picked up by the knock sensors. Then the computer pulls a lot of timing and the next combustion event happens much cooler (less power) and the knock is gone. Your car will now have about 300 flywheel horsepower, just like the V-6.
